Bernie Sanders Launches Crazed Congressional Attack Against Jeff Bezos With “Stop BEZOS” Act

By Robert Wenzel

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) has introduced legislation in the Senate which if passed into law would tax giant corporations such as Amazon and Walmart 100% of
federal benefits received by their employees in an effort to force companies to pay their employees a higher wage, reports KCEW.

The “Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies” Act (Stop BEZOS Act) is named after  Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

This is a total union pushed program to make it more expensive for non-union firms like Amazon and Walmart to hire workers. It makes union shop firms, and their higher wage employees, more competitive.

But Amazon and WalMart are paying market wages and they hire based on those costs. If their wage structure is distorted by higher costs as a result of the BEZOS Act, it will likely mean fewer workers hired by Amazon and WalMart.

Unions are not pro-worker. They are in the protection racket business where they protect the workers they represent against free market competition.

Note: Tucker Carlson has also been pushing this "the wage structures of Amazon and WalMart are evil" theme.

But if Carlson really has a problem with federal worker subsidies, he should be calling for the end of the subsidies--not attacking WalMart and Amazon for operating under the conditions presented to them.

This is not complicated.

  1. So, let me make sure I have this right...

Welfare recipient sitting on his ass watching TV = good

Welfare recipient working at Wal Mart/Amazon = bad

    1. What do you expect from socialist oligarchs? They always want to take from productive enterprise to kill the golden goose.

    2. Yeah, sadly I guess it’s too much to expect a demagogue who constantly opines the plight of the poor, to refrain from effectively banning the poor from earning a living.

  3. Robert,
It will be great if you have an opportunity to speak with Carlson to help him see the light.
