NYU economics professor and critic of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain, Nouriel Roubini, sent out a tweet criticizing MIT for offering a course on blockchain. He called it shameful:
Agreed. Shameful that MIT is trying to profit on the FOMO of clueless BagHolders . Blockchain is a solution searching for an question to resolve https://t.co/bTFuoKYNuN
After looking at https://executive.mit.edu/blockchain-technologies-brochure his assessment seems valid. If it was a mathematics or computer science course then it would be a different story.
"Distributed ledgers" are a new kind of database. It works. I've seen it. Once supply chains normalize data across all partners, then the ROI goes exponential as all billing and traceability across the entire supply chain is automated for all members. No more billing dept's and instant recalls to minimize damage.
