Understanding How Nutty the Wuhan Coronavirus Panic Is

A person, who attended the 2020 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), tested positive for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).

Mainstream media has gone mad reporting this fact:

But lets put things into perspective.

The Center for Disease Control estimates around 31 million Americans will catch the flu this year. That's roughly 9.4% of the population.

The flu season runs generally between December and March.

So that is roughly 2.35% per month infected (higher in Feb.)

CPAC was held the last week of February. But let's just assume the seasonal rate of 2.35% infected per month. The conference ran for 4 days. Roughly 14% of the month. That means the number of peak infected in the general population during this period is roughly 0.3%.

The number of attendees at CPAC was roughly 20,000. That means there were probably at minimum around 60 people at the conference walking around with peak flu. Somewhere between 20,000 and 70,000 will die in the US from the flu this year. How much reporting do you think went on by MSM about the 60 or so that were carrying peak flu at CPAC?

If you said zero reporting, you win the prize.

And don't get me started on the crazy claim that COVID-19 is 10x more dangerous than the flu.

We are facing full-fledged mass hysteria about COVID-19 multiplied by a bizarre desire by mainstream media to overblow its danger to make President Trump look incompetent in handling the virus---as if presidents really should be at the forefront of handling these things anyway (See: Foundations of Private Property Society Theory).
