BREAKING: New Unemployment Claims Come in At 6.6 Million

Following new unemployment claims of 3.28 million last week, the jobless claims number this week came in at 6.6 million.

Specifically,  in the week ending March 28, the initial claims were 6,648,000, an increase of
3,341,000 from the previous week's revised level. This marks the highest level of seasonally adjusted initial claims in the history of the seasonally adjusted series. Driven, of course, by the government ordered such downs of most of the US economy.

Before recent weeks, the worst week for unemployment filings was 695,000 in 1982.
