A landlord acquaintance of mine tells me has had to institute super aggressive ID checks when renting apartments out during the current COVID-19 crisis.
Apparently, the word is out amongst the hate-capitalism left. All you need to do is get a false ID of someone that has good credit and their social security number. You scrape up enough money for a down payment in a high rent building and then fill the application out in the name of the good credit person, flash the fake ID and move in.
Once you are in, because of the current California moratorium on evictions, you don't have to pay any further rent, even if you scammed your way in, and you can't be evicted.
