Geithner Headed to Germany

The Treasury today announced that Secretary Tim Geithner will visit Frankfurt and Berlin, Germany on March 8, 2011. According to the Treasury, he will hold
...meetings with senior government officials to discuss the global economic outlook and progress on international financial reform.

He will also discuss global efforts to impose sanctions applying maximum pressure on the Qadhafi regime, as well as sanctions against Iran for its failure to meet its international obligations.
This sounds serious. I have never seen Geithner fly across the globe for meetings that were not part of a major global event. Either he has a Fraulein tucked away in Deutschland, or he needs to straighten the Germans about something, pronto.

  1. Weren't the Krauts making noises about the PIIGS having to come clean about the fact that they cannot and therefore will not repay the debt?
In other words, the Boche were saying that they would not bail out the deadbeats.
