NYC Mayor: Occupy Wall Street Protesters Can Stay Indefinitely

Mayor Michael Bloomberg just said that he’ll allow the 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters to stay indefinitely, provided they abide by the law, reports WSJ.

“The bottom line is – people want to express themselves. And as long as they obey the laws, we’ll allow them to,” said Bloomberg as he prepared to march in the Columbus Day Parade on Fifth Avenue. “If they break the laws, then, we’re going to do what we’re supposed to do: enforce the laws.”

Bloomberg said he has “no idea” how much longer the Wall Street demonstration will last. “I think part of it has probably to do with the weather,” he said.

Bloomberg says that as if this is a nation of laws.

  2. So it finally dawned on him cracking some heads wasn't going to make this anger go away.

  3. I visited Zucotti Park from midnight to 4am Sunday morning, bringing old clothes and some big bottles of water. Nearly every inch of the park was covered, 80% by those sleeping / resting, 5% with pathways, and the remaining with "stations" like Kitchen, Media, Comfort (where I donated some sweaters), etc. Many people were sitting or standing in the path areas, chatting or ranting. As such, even by 4am, it was clear that achieving sleep would be difficult for most, due to the city noises and activity by their fellow protestors. I also realized that 5 or 10 "emergency" lights cound be erected by public safety or police forces, rendering overnight occupation unbearable to all but the most rambunctious protestors.

  4. Maybe Bloomberg meant to say "It's okay to stay in the park because my girlfriend says so. And she is a friend of Soros, so it's double okay."
