Breaking: CIA Has Started Delivering Weapons to Syrian Rebels

WaPo is reporting that the CIA has begun delivering weapons to rebels in Syria, ending months of delay in lethal aid that had been promised by the Obama administration, according to U.S. officials and Syrian figures. The shipments began streaming into the country over the past two weeks, along with separate deliveries by the State Department of vehicles and other gear — a flow of material that marks a major escalation of the U.S. role in Syria’s civil war.

UPDATE

WaPo further reports:

The CIA shipments are to flow through a network of clandestine bases in Turkey and Jordan that were expanded over the past year as the agency sought to help Middle Eastern allies, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, direct weapons to moderate Syrian rebel forces.

UPDATE 2

The arms shipments are limited to light weapons and other munitions that can be tracked, says WaPo.

  1. So, if the U.S. are supplying the weapons to the terrorist and they use chemical weapons. Does mean the U.S. is to be blame for us of WMD?

    1. The US is not supplying weapons to terrorists. Maybe you are thinking of Reagan selling arms to Iran. There is nothing in the post which suggests the CIA is arming terrorists.

    2. Jerry, this not a good platform for you. You need to head to Fox or MSNBC. This not a one stop platform. People here do actually try to learn and understand what is going on. They do not need to be told by you or the MSM.

  2. does that mean the CIA can be held indefinitely, by supporting known terrorist organizations, via the NDAA?

  3. Did you hear that rumor about how the Benghazi affair was about the US supplying weapons to rebels in Syria? These scandals come so fast these days that it's getting hard to stay focused on just one scandal!

Now Wenzel says the CIA is just getting "started" supplying weapons. What is true and what is false? Who has credibility in anything they say these days?

    2. Raw data as opposed to cooked data? Seriously, so what? Israel has a lot of enemies in the USA. Take Ron Paul for instance. Wonder if we'll get to hear his speech before the anti-Semite convention.

  5. In response to Sen. Rand Paul's statement regarding the U.S. allying with al Qaida in the Syrian conflict, Sen. Barbara Boxer assured the nation that Obama is trafficking arms only to CAREFULLY VETTED terrorists. So I feel safe.

    1. Hey, Syrian rebels need those weapons to oust the government that is not adequately representing them...

Meanwhile, you, Dear American, do not need an AK47.

The US government will, however, sell them to Messican drug cartels.

  8. Tracked? Like the weapons that the cartels got their hands on?

  9. Why do I get the feeling that Syria is another Afghanistan? Let's have Russia and the US play their power games at the expense of some poor goat herders caught in the middle. Kind of disgusting.
