Obama Announces More Sanctions Against Russian Officials, Others

President Obama is imposing sanctions on more senior officials in the Russian government, and certain other Russias who support the government.

Obama also signed a new executive order that gives the United States the authority to impose sanctions on key sectors of the Russian economy if deemed necessary in the future.

"Nations do not redraw borders... simply because they are larger and more powerful," Obama said.

  1. Pretty soon, each American and Russian citizen will be on each others' respective sanctions list... except Putin and Obama. This is amateur cold war foreplay at its finest.

That's not what happened in Crimea. The people voted and decided by a huge majority to return their province to Russia. That is democracy in action. Will the MSM ever call out Obama's hypocrisy on this?

  4. It's all just harmless optics. Those sanctioned on both sides are hardly affected by the sanctions. McCain doesn't have a St. Petersburg bank account and Lavrov doesn't use American Express. On the contrary, all the sanction recipients seem downright delighted with the benefits to their domestic reputations. Win-win.

Wake me when sanctions start falling on people who actually have significant assets to freeze. That would obviously be a different and dangerous game. But neither party has an interest in mutually assured economic destruction.

RW, punch me in the face.

LOL!!! Is he kidding?! Shit, talk about INSANE hypocrisy! Uh, Odumbo, what the hell do you think you and your imperial warmongers in The Imperial City have been doing for decades on end?

You can only shake your head at this kind of hypocritical arrogance. Pal, please, we're not that stupid.

  6. He also took the opportunity to stick it to gun owners by barring any Russian arms manufacturer from doing business here:

For those of you who are not aware, Russian steel-cased ammo is some of the cheapest ammunition on the market, It's low quality, but who cares when you're plinking. The AK-47s are not as popular as the beloved AR-15 platform, but it is nonetheless a pretty popular model. Obummer the sore loser took the Ukraine situation as an opportunity to stick it to a sector of the country which he doesn't like very much. Not very presidential if you ask me.
