Harry Reid Calls Cliven Bundy Supporters “Domestic Terrorists”

Paul Joseph Watson at Infowars reports:
Senator Harry Reid has escalated the war of words over the Cliven Bundy dispute, sensationally labeling the Nevada cattle rancher’s supporters “domestic terrorists” during an event in Las Vegas today.
During a ‘Hashtags & Headlines’ event at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Reid referred to Bundy supporters as “Nothing more than domestic terrorists,” adding, “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”
I don't believe the Bundy affair is over and I don't believe it is going to end well. With Reid talking up like this, he clearly doesn't like that the government lost round 1. They will not lose round 2.

  1. Bob, I usually agree with you. I think confronting a cop or government thug is stupid. Keep your head down, be respectful, and try to walk away.

The attention to this case is different. It has the MSM covering it, it has wide popular discussion (if not support) and intriguing nuance- the Reid/Chinese/Solar deal has made it popular among non-libertarian Republicans.

If the Feds do anything in the next few weeks/months it will be big news. A raid, especially a raid with casualties (on either side) will be galvanizing on a level we've never seen in the broadly internet era.

Waco and Ruby Ridge happened when a small fraction of people used the internet for news. Now Facebook and Twitter are the main source of news, even for the 50+ crowd. If they see that the government murdered people on the "newsfeed" of their grand kid, or cousin, they will not accept the MSM narrative.

The government has lost the spin power on this story. They're losing it on Ukraine- a country half a world away!

I hope there is no blood shed. But, as legend holds, Hope was the last spirit in Pandora's Box.

If Russia (perhaps in concert with China) dumps a few trillion in US debt, a small rebellion in Nevada would be the least of our worries.

May You Live In Interesting Times, as the old Chinese curse says.

  2. Goebbels would agree with Reid if he were still alive.

There's no doubt that Reid felt terrorized by them...

    1. I was waiting for the parasite (Reid) to say that about Bundy and his supporters. I'm not surprised in the least.

    1. Dunce? Maybe. Liar, thief, and potential soon-to-be murderer? Definitely.

  5. Mr. Wenzel lost ALL credibility with this comment:

......You aren't going to takedown the US government with a gun battle, the American revolution was obviously different, since the reactionaries won. It is not at all clear what their views would be on attempting to shoot up the US government. But further, looking at it from a different perspective and as will be detailed in an upcoming post, it is not exactly clear that a violent revolution was necessary at the time of the American revolution.

    2. “Mr. Wenzel lost ALL credibility with this comment”

Do you have any idea how silly such a statement sounds?

“I used to believe Mr. Wenzel was a pretty credible guy; but now, because of this one single comment, well not anymore. Not only did he lose all credibility, he lost ALL credibility - I want to capitalize to demonstrate how thorough the loss is. From hero to zero all due to one sentence.”

      Or

“Mr. Wenzel was hardly credible to me before, but now he has zero credibility with me. Sure, I hang around and read and comment on sites where the host has zero credibility; then I like to post anonymously, not explain a single reason why I believe the statement is not credible, and then expect to be taken for a scholar.”

As to Mr. Wenzel's point: “…it is not exactly clear that a violent revolution was necessary at the time of the American revolution.”

Not only is it credible, but I would take it one step further: the true “winners” of the American Revolution were the US based oligarchs, replacing the British based oligarchs - they ensured the eventual enactment of a Constitution in 1787 that would cement their place in power.

As for the average colonist-now-American, they lost citizenship under perhaps the most liberal/free government in the world at the time, and saw an almost immediate increase in taxes and depreciation in currency.

Is the average American better off today than the average Canadian? Australian? Take it a step further: the average Brit?

Then ask yourself: who really won the American Revolution?

Sure sounds like non-violence to me.

      Simple. He didn't.

    6. After reading EPJ for a while I've noticed that Libertarians have a lot in common with liberals. Maybe Libertarians should take a closer look at the Democrat party?

  7. I used to think that Harry Reid was a dangerous , incompetent old fool. But now I think he is truly evil. And that is a term I do not toss around lightly.

  8. Well, duh. What else do were we to expect. This was the narrative against the Iraqis and all other Arabs (and Persians and brown people). There was an article at Lew Rockwell stating that the Federal government took over the lands of the original inhabitants while our ancestors cheered them on. Only to have the Fed Gov to keep the land and in turn "victimize" the children of the people who cheered them on. I think it's the same thing here with "domestic terrorists".

Put aside the whole rancher thing. It's going to be interesting to see how people react to the terrorist accusation of anybody when push comes to shove and being over used by scum wipes like Reid. Yes, at least half of the population is dumb, but that only means that they'll most likely will soon be numb to certain propaganda and "wordings".

  9. Harry Reid will never win another election. This is what happens when powerful, self serving, men get desperate...

[Remind anyone of "House of Cards"?]

  10. Harry Reid's language may not just be bluster. He may be trying to set the stage to use various laws passed since 2001 for 'round two'. That is there won't be a raid, just something a lot quieter and slower that will only produce a new conspiracy theory. Unlikely for it work that way given the attention, but that may be what he has in mind.

    1. I agree with Mr. Meeker.

Reid is not calling them "terrorists" because he's a 15-year-old on Facebook with a propensity for exaggeration. He's adding to the federal propaganda campaign against the ranchers and (more generally), those of a more "states' right" mindset.

By repeatedly labelling these people terrorists, the association will be made subconsciously in the minds of some significant portion of the population, who will then be less likely to protest, second-guess or even care about the Feds' eventual massacre of them.

The federal government cannot go back and start rounding up harmless all-American friendly farmer types. They have to be painted as bad guys, rebranded as dangerous extremists.

This could end up like Waco, or worse.

Seems like your just another conservatroll keyboard warrior but hey feel free to get violent with government thugs and see what happens when they nail you to the wall. People like you are what the state wants, they want people to get violent with them so they can retaliate ten-fold.

    1. Indeed, the goobermint can retaliate ten-fold on an individual. However, if all the individuals can organize we can retaliate on the government 100-fold. Armed citizens out-number armed goobermint workers 100 to 1. This is why there is a 2nd amendment in the constitution - the founders knew it would occasionally be required to put down the government - and of course it is there for ordinary self-defense as well.
