Clearly, the government is concerned about market reaction to the results. That is the only reason for a Thursday afternoon release.
If they could get away with it, they would release Friday afternoon, but that would be too obvious an indication that they are trying to sneak the results out with as little focus on them as possible. But, good luck with that. Every eyeball on Wall Street will be focused on the results.
Chatter seems to indicate that the government will be buying into, i.e. partial nationalizations, of at least a couple.
