Pickens' Pulls Plug on Major Windmill Project: Turns Out to Be All Hot Air

The man backing part of the Global Climate scare can't even calculate how to place his windmills correctly, never mind his hot air about the much more complex subject, the climate.

Plans for the world's largest wind farm in the Texas Panhandle have been scrapped, Pickens said today. He's now looking for a home for 687 giant wind turbines that he has already ordered. The windmills stand 400 feet tall—taller than most 30-story buildings.

"When I start receiving those turbines, I've got to ... like I said, my garage won't hold them," the oligarch said. "They've got to go someplace."

The problem with Pickens' Plan lies in getting power from the proposed site in the Panhandle to a distribution system, Pickens said in an interview with AP .

He'd hoped to build his own transmission lines but he said there were technical problems.

Wind power is a big part of the "Pickens Plan," which was announced a year ago . Pickens has spent $60 million crisscrossing the country and buying advertising in an effort to get the government to subsidize his mad plan.

So what's he going to do with all the windmills on their way?

He might place some of the turbines on other property he is leasing in Texas, but he's also looking for smaller wind projects to participate in. He said he's looking at potential sites in the Midwest and Canada.=

  1. He better not come to the midwest, his windmills are not welcome here, good luck with that.

  2. do u own the midwest, or u just the spokesman for all of us. we have 6 on our farm with no complaints.

  3. @blonnthewind

Can we also use your money to subsidize the losses Pickens expects when he installs the windmills?

  4. Pickens is a p*ssy. Try west Texas near Ft. Stockton or the shallows of the Gulf of Mexico. I have been watching the equipment being shipped on I-45 for the last 5 years. What is the problem? How about solar panel farms in the Pecos. Loser. We will pick up where your sorry a*s failed.

  5. In Texas, we consider T boone pickens crazy as hell.

  6. He should put them near Vegas...the wind is pretty constant here...though kind of gusty and cross winded...

  7. If solar's not good enough, maybe he can put them where the sun don't shine.

  8. Maybe they should move the windmills to Washington DC, where there's always a lot of hot air!!
Possibly also the capitals of states like NY, NJ, CA where they are good at spending the people's money and taxing them more and more.

  9. If the wind generator's aren't welcome in the Midwest, then it will be to your own detriment. Quite frankly, calling Pickens an Oligarch is highly irresponsible.
