What Does It Take to Get into the European Union?

Part of it requires filling out a questionnaire.

Ambassador Hjálmar W. Hannesson of Iceland was kind enough to email me a copy of the questionnaire that the EU is asking Iceland to complete. The questionnaire was presented last week by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Olli Rehn, to the Icelandic Prime Minister, Johanna Sigurdardottir.

The Ambassador writes:
The questionnaire includes 2,500 questions in 33 chapters. Individual ministries and governmental institutions will now start preparing answers to the questionnaire, which the Icelandic authorities hope will be concluded in the coming months...The responses provided by the Icelandic authorities will serve as a basis for the Commission to prepare an opinion on Iceland's application for membership of the EU, which will then be submitted to the European Council.
