On Thursday night local time, Deputy Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Friday morning, the Deputy Secretary met with Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin to discuss ways "to increase revenues to improve fiscal sustainability and increase growth of the economy, including through expanding the reach of the banking sector throughout Pakistan, and reforms to the electricity sector to increase energy supplies." Later Friday morning, Wolin also met with Senator Ishaq Dar.
Friday afternoon, Deputy Secretary Wolin met with Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to discuss a broad range of issues, "including strategies for maintaining progress on the path to economic stability, enhanced provision of financial and social services to underserved areas throughout Pakistan, and continued measurers to disrupt illicit financing of terrorist organizations."
Later Friday evening, he had dinner with members of the American Business Council and American Business Forum, together with Finance Minister Tarin and other members of the economic team.
