Politically Correct Ketchup?

For the first time in 40 years, Heinz ketchup is changing its famous recipe -- by lowering the salt content in an effort to appeal to the politically correct anti-salters.

Heinz is controlled in part by Teresa Heinz through her role as a trustee of various Heinz family trusts.  She is the wife of Massachusetts Senator John Kerry.

Heinz first met Kerry in 1990 at an Earth Day rally, at the time she was married to U.S. Senator H. John Heinz III. After he died in an airplane crash on April 4, 1991, in Pennsylvania, Heinz inherited his fortune. Kerry and Heinz married in 1995.

Heinz was one of 16 major food manufacturers that last month signed onto the National Salt Reduction Initiative, a plan led by NYC Mayor Bloomberg to get companies to cut back on the salt in their products.Ugh.

Please pass the Ketchup Wloclawek.
