General's Wife Gets Gig with Elizabeth Warren

File under: The military-industrial complex meets All in the Family

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, presidential adviser Elizabeth Warren plans to name Holly Petraeus to head up the agency's efforts to protect military families from abusive lenders, according to sources familiar with the move, reports WaPo.

The appointment of Petraeus - the wife of Gen. David H. Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan - to lead the bureau's Office for Service Member Affairs is expected to take place later this week, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement had been made.

  2. Hmmmm... I wonder if this job was advertised and if others were interviewed and considered for the position -- or if it was just another "no bid contract."

  3. Warren is one super lady, but this makes me ill. Petraeus's wife needs to volunteer at Walter Reed.

  5. What?! You think that a member of the oligarchy would stoop to crony-ism?

    Why do you hate America?

  6. Is the job even necessary or was it created to give Mrs. Petreaus a job?

  7. "Protecting people from abusive lenders" means preventing people from getting the kind of lending they want. After politicians engage in this crime, as they are smiling for the cameras, their putative beneficiaries curse them.
