  1. I fear the spin. This can and probably will be a catalyst to destroy more civil liberties. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two media outlets stick a Ron Paul title in that list just to associate fear and violence with something positive. Let's hope not.

The media and some people ignore that neo-conservative ideals and the hijacked tea party do not match the original sound money/nonintervention/limited government ideals the original Ron Paul grassroots movement represented.

Great post. Important information – puts a lot of things into perspective for those who want to be truly educated on the matter. A bookshelf can tell a lot more about a person than most people realize.

  2. I'm sure they are going to paint him as a right wing nut rather than the left wing commie/fascist/socialist he appears to be.

  3. Another product of government schools, from the looks of it:
I attended school: Thornydale elementary, Tortolita Middle School, Mountain View Highschool, Northwest Aztec Middle College, and Pima Community College.

Doubt that will be significant to anyone though, and I am not necessarily saying it should be, but many other insignificant facts will be made significant yet this one will likely be left out, ie, no one asking "What are we teaching our kids in government schools?!"

  6. @ Anonymous and James Miller:

I don't think he appears to be a left wing socialist or fascist. He has 'We the Living' by Ayn Rand on the list. Ray Bradbury doesn't strike me as particularly left or right, nor is Hesse. The fact that he could have the Communist Manifesto, Mein Kampf, We the Living, Animal Farm, Brave New World, the Republic, and Fahrenheit 451 together on a favorites list seems to imply that he was either incoherent in his thinking or had reached some higher synthesis of ideas beyond anything I can fathom. The only thing all of these have in common is that they have very radical messages. That said, it is likely that the media and government will tend to spin this as a case of 'right-wing' violence because, after all, he used a gun. Or maybe it will be spun as a warning against all types of radicalism. Obama, after all, needs to defend himself against the more radical left who oppose him, so, jail anyone who reads Marx or Rand...or Aesop.

  7. Sad. One person with a CCW permit and a handgun could have lessoned the casualties.

Now guns, people who believe in gold backed currencies, and read books that warn of power grabs will be lumped into the nut group.

  8. Whatever this man's reading list or political leanings, it doesn't change the fact he is an inhuman piece of garbage.

  9. Anonymous,

I wasn't trying to paint him as a socialist/communist/leftie or whatever, just that he will be made out to be a right winger. Judging by his reading list, its tough to see what kind of political leanings he has. Obviously whatever it is should not have possessed him to do something like this.
