The Department of the Treasury today announced that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner will visit Brazil on February 7, 2011.
During his visit, Secretary Geithner , according to the Treasury, "highlight the importance of economic and financial cooperation with the Government of Brazil – a key aspect of the strong and productive relationship with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff’s administration. The Secretary will consult on shared bilateral and G-20 objectives, including ongoing efforts to promote balanced global growth and to reform the governance of the international financial institutions."
The Secretary will meet with senior government officials in Brasilia before traveling to Sao Paulo to meet with local business leaders and economists. While in Sao Paulo, the Secretary will visit Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) for a discussion with university students. Secretary Geithner will return to Washington the same day.
