Below, I pointed out that religious groups tend to have an edge in gaining power after a revolution, as a result of the organizations they already have in place. It comes to mind that Haiti is another example of this type situation, which developed after "Baby Doc" Duvalier fled from power in that country.
Jean-Bertrand Aristide, a former priest and liberation theologist, served as Haiti's first democratically elected president. He became a focal point for the pro-democracy movement under the military transition regime which followed the flight of "Baby Doc". He won the Haitian general election, 1990-1991 with 67% of the vote and was briefly President of Haiti, until a September 1991(possibly U.S. inspired) military coup.
The US has f'd Haiti six ways from Sunday, not only through direct political manipulation, but by incentivizing them to quit growing their own food by exporting subsidized American products.
