Joe Battapaglia RIP

Market strategist and frequent CNBC guest Joe Battapaglia died suddenly today of an apparent heart attack. He was 55.

Though trained in mainstream economics with a degree in economics from Boston College and an MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of Business, Battapaglia never veered into calling for major Federal Reserve or other government interventions in the economy.

His view was clearly Keynesian, but compared to the rest, he was pretty tolerable.

He was chief market strategist at Stifel Nicolaus.
