Speaking at a news conference, Toyota's president, Akio Toyoda, said that problems in parts procurement, following Japan's earhquake, is a major obstacle to restoring normal operations.
In a statement Toyota said, "Outside Japan, depending on region and vehicle model, normalization of production is expected to start in August, with normalization completing around November or December."
Toyota had already announced production cutbacks in Japan and key markets around the world, including the U.S. and China, bringing production to 50% of normal volume in many cases to preserve parts.
