Five and a half million Americans are unemployed and not receiving benefits, according to WSJ. This will speed the decline in the number unemployed. When you stop paying people not to work, They look harder and find jobs.
As of mid-March, about 8.5 million people were receiving some kind of unemployment payments, down from 11.5 million a year earlier, according to the Labor Department. And, not surprisingly, the number of employed in March was up nearly 1 million from a year earlier, according to the Labor Department.
You are pompous elitists if you think that the pittance my son received when he was on unemployment kept him from looking for a job. He and his family wouldn't have made it without help from the rest of the family and he gladly took the first job he could find even though he was still eligible for benefits.
