Price Inflation Hits 14% in NYC

A NyPo analysis found that  New Yorkers’ common purchases have jumped about 14 percent, than a year ago.

According to NyPo:

In addition to skyrocketing rent and gas prices, New Yorkers are being nickel and dimed to death, shelling out 21 cents more for a box of Corn Flakes, 29 cents more for a six-pack of beer, and about a buck extra to go to the movies. It even costs more to treat a headache than it did in 2010.

Costs are creeping upward for everything from a coffee-cart cup of Joe to a carton of milk to a TV dinner...

The average price of a regular gallon of gas in New York City was $4.21 Friday, compared with $3.08 a year ago...

The average price of a one-bedroom apartment in a Manhattan doorman building last month was $3,529 up from $3,360 a year ago...
It's shouldn't come as a surprise that NYC is a leader in inflation, since much of the money Bernanke pumps into the system goes to Wall Street, and Wall Streeters spend their money in the city. 1. The inflation here in Hong Kong is mindboggling. Cornflakes are up 10 percent since February! A bottle of water that cost 2 HKD three years ago now costs 5,90 HKD.

The Hong Kong government are now trying to fight inflation with price controls and subsidies so people can afford the higher costs. Of course, no one is getting a pay raise. To boot, a minimum wage was introduced yesterday in the "worlds freest economy".
