Controller Halts Pay for California Lawmakers

California's state controller is halting pay for California lawmakers.

Controller John Chiang announced Tuesday that the lawmakers' budget didn't meet the state's requirement for getting paid under Proposition 25, which voters approved in November.

Lawmakers will get their salaries and expenses back once they pass a balanced budget.

Chiang issued his decision after conducting an analysis of the budget pushed through by Democratic lawmakers last week on a simple majority vote. Lawmakers said they believed that action allowed them to continue receiving paychecks, but Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed the package

  1. This has to convince them that something must be done. It's obvious these people are of low character and low intelligence, but is it wrong expect them to act more decisively and quickly now?

  2. I was against voting this into law, expecting it would just encourage lawmakers to pass an even more stupid budget. Hope I am wrong.
