This follows a number of other recent D.C. hires in Silicon Valley. According to Dealbook:
Facebook hired Joel Kaplan, a former member of President George W. Bush’s White House staff, to lead its Washington office. Other notable political insiders at Facebook include its general counsel, Ted Ullyot, a former clerk for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, a former chief of staff to then Treasury secretary, Larry Summers.It is a sad day in America when the creative, technological savvy Silicon Valley types need to hire D.C. protection, or worse, use the D.C. access to hinder competition.
Well, running to the government is what you do when you're worried that your IPO bonanza might not materialize.
