The Very Curious Background of the Attorney Representing the DSK Accuser

Nafissatou Diallo, the Sofitel maid who accuses former-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her, has a lead attorney with a background that spy movies are made of. His background just does not stop.

Kenneth Thompson is a former federal prosecutor, who then went on to work for the global legal power house, Morgan Lewis.  The same Morgan Lewis that all of elitist Wall Street has on retainer.

According to legal500.com:

Morgan Lewis’ team advises over 250 global hedge fund managers... Leveraging off deeply entrenched ties with a number of major Wall Street banks, the practice has a well-earned reputation as one of the leading firms in the market for DIP financing and exit lending. A longstanding relationship with JPMorgan has seen the team instructed by the bank as DIP agent and arranger in a slew of mandates including Tower Automotive, Kmart, American Commercial Lines, Burlington Industries, Polaroid and Bruno’s.

So we have a former federal prosecutor, who ends up working for the powerhouse Morgan Lewis, before striking out on his own.

But get a load of this: When you need the spin done properly on the most high profile situations, Thompson is the one to call. From the bio on Thompson's web site:

 Mr. Thompson has participated in some of the country's most prominent, high-profile investigations. For example, he was a member of the Treasury Department's Waco Administrative Review, which conducted the investigation ordered by then President Bill Clinton of the raid on the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco, Texas by federal agents, in which four federal agents were killed and 20 others shot and seriously wounded. As a member of the Waco Administrative Review, Mr. Thompson was one of the attorneys who drafted the official report on the Waco incident, known as the "Waco Report," which was submitted to President Clinton...Mr. Thompson also assisted in preparing the Secretary of the Treasury for his testimony before the Senate Banking Committee concerning alleged improper contacts between Treasury officials and White House counsel over the Whitewater Investigation...

Waco and Whitewater, talk about two situations that had to be handled just right. It may have been early in his career, but obviously insiders knew he could be counted on to "do the right thing."

Got all that? When the stakes are as high as they can get, Thompson shows up on the scene. And somehow a Guinean hotel maid ends up with Thompson representing her. Whoever is moving the chess pieces against DSK, it appears they are not done just yet.
