New JPMorganChase Strategy Get Your Customers Arrested

A 28-year-old construction worker was thrown in jail for five days after trying to cash a JPMorganChase check at a JPMorgan Chase branch in Auburn, Washington.

KING5 News  reports that Ikenna Njoku received a home buyer rebate from the IRS, which Chase Bank sent him in the form of a $8,463.21 cashier's check. When he tried to cash the check, a teller at his local Chase Bank suspected it was a forgery and there was a long delay. he left to do other errrands.

When he arrived the next day to get his money, he was arrested for trying to cash a fraudulent check and was thrown in jail. That was a Thursday

On friday, Chase Special Investigations, realized it was a mistake. The check was legitimate. The Investigator called Auburn Police and left a message on voicemail with the detective handling the case, but it was her day off. So Njoku stayed in jail for the entire weekend. Finally, on Monday, he was released.
In the meantime, he was fired from his job for failing to show up to work and his car had been towed from the bank's parking lot and was later sold at an auction.

  3. dirty.

I seriously doubt he'll be compensated for these losses...if there was a true market for liberty, people would have to think twice before trashing someone's life like this.

  4. This is referred to in law as "defamation per se." That is, the false accusation that one committed a committed a crime. It is very actionable. I wish it occurred in Florida where I practice law because I would like to represent this guy and would take his case on a contingency fee.

He's got some good tangible damages (loss of job and income), not to mention his liberty and freedom were taken from him.

  5. How in the world can his car be towed on a Thursday afternoon and be sold before the weekend is over? That has to be a crime. I hope he sues the crap out of them.
