Why Would Terrorists Want to attack Norway?

Via MSNBC's Open Channel:
Norwegian special forces have been fighting in Afghanistan for many years and Ayman al Zawahiri, al-Qaida's new leader after the death of Osama bin Laden, has been threatening Norway since 2003, warning that its participation in the U.S.-led military campaign against radical Islam in Afghanistan would result in an attack on the Norwegian homeland. Norwegian special forces operate in central Afghanistan, near Kabul.
Update: A gunman detained after shootings at a youth meeting on a Norwegian island and a bombing in central Oslo on Friday is Norwegian, Justice Minister Knut Storberget said, Reuters is reporting.

Update 2: All indications are that the attack was staged by local Norwegian operator(s) not connected with outside terrorists.

  1. This will be blamed on Iran and the USA will be at war with them by September. I wager an ounce of gold that the CIA was involved with this.

  2. The sad fact is that the prevalent multiculturalism of the Norwegian intellectuals, media, politicians have created this mess. The large Muslim contingent lives off the welfare State while preparing to overthrow it. Democracy is the belief that the people should get what they want good and hard. That is what the Norwegians are getting. Most voted for it so I dare say that they deserve to live with the consequences.

  3. Here is the twitter account for the alleged mastermind. This was his only tweet just 5 days ago.

"one person with a belief is equal to the force of 100 000 who have only interests."

Creepy picture too. Looks like such a normal guy.

  4. I have traveled to Norway several times.
It was very safe and pleasant. Women feel safe to walk the streets pretty much all the time.
It is very open, liberal and laid back.
This is a shock to people I know who still live there.

  7. The media is already yammering about domestic terrorism, so I assume this event will be used to promote the growth of the homeland security state.
