Is It Time for John Stewart to Do a Segment on

The United States government has been conducting an intelligence operation against Justin Raimondo and

As the web site states, it provides an antiwar perspective on foreign policy. But, it is impossible to find anything on the site that isn't protected by the First Amendment.

As much as I am not surprised that the government is monitoring the site and Raimondo, I am completely shocked by the media's lack of coverage of the government (via an FOIA disclosure) being caught in the act of the monitoring And there has been not a peep of outrage about the monitoring out of MSM.

Indeed, the monitoring was barley reported in the news---as best I can tell it was only reported by a few outlier web sites.

First they spied on and nobody objected, then they spied on....

  1. Bob you need to get yourself out of the States soon. Even if you don't feel like living in Asia, I guess Europe is pretty alright too. Not so much economically, but at least our government likely won't get out of control. Europeans still remember the Soviet Union era, as well the Nazi Germany. They will not let that happen again for a few generations.

  2. Yes.

The question is how do we get in contact with Jon Stewart? (And if it's in email, make sure to spell it 'Jon' and not 'John')

  3. Are you really shocked, Bob? I'm not.

  4. @Wenzel

    Ha! You surprised?

When push comes to shove, you will be able to rely on very few.

Needs a great deal more than intellectual enlightenment to take a stand on anything.
Needs a bit of guts and character too.
    It's why we like EPJ.

  5. Dang, I should've named my blog, I did recently post Deputy White House Chief of Staff Nancy-Ann DeParle's financial disclosure forms on SCRIBD.

  6. I have come to the conclusion that being anti-war is anti-American. Look at our history. 1780 Revolutionary War, our country founded in war. 1812, 1848, 1861, 1865 to 1890 eradicate the Plains Indians, 1898 Spain, then WW1, (Perhaps the craziest), WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and now the whole Mideast and parts of SE Asia. These are just the major conflicts, war isn't our last resort, it's our only resort. Has there been a more warlike nation in the past 1000 years?

  7. @Well, the ACLU might not be looking into antiwar, but at least it's trying to suss out Zuckerberg's $100 M donation to Newark:

RENTON, N.J. (AP) — The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the state's biggest city for refusing to release records related to a $100 million gift pledged to its schools by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The ACLU filed the lawsuit against Newark on behalf of a parents group denied access to records requested under New Jersey's Open Public Records Act.

The initial April 1 request sought to review correspondence among Zuckerberg, Newark employees including Democratic Mayor Cory Booker, state officials and others involved in the deal.

"As parents, as taxpayers and as citizens, we have a need and right to know how the money pledged to Newark's public schools will ultimately serve Newark's public school students," said Laura Baker, who filed the initial request and has a granddaughter in the school system.

  8. Don't worry RW, there's plenty of room at Camp FEMA for all of us.
