It's Not Becasue of the Earthquake Threat: California at Bottom in New Business Creation

It's the tax and regulation threat.

From 2001 to 2009, California ranked either first or second in the nation in creating businesses. But last year, the state plummeted to 50th as it lost 4,600 businesses, according to a study by Economic Modeling Specialists Inc.

  1. Oh come on. You don't think that California isn't almost always on the top or bottom of this list because it's so much more populous than any other state? When you adjust the numbers for population, California's 27th, ahead of AR, RI, IN, TN, CN, AL, MN, OH, HI, MT, NH, GA, MS, ME, AZ, MI, VT, UT, SC, CO, DE, ID, and NE.

Or perhaps all of these have greater "tax and regulation threats" than California?
