The video cameras stopped recording during the commercial breaks of last night's debate, but the still photographers kept on working and caught this exchange as Rick Perry rushed over to Ron Paul:
one, two, three, four, five, six.
Clearly, Ron Paul hit a nerve, when discussing Rick Perry's support of Hillarycare and Perry's program forcing 12-year-old Texas girls to take an inoculation to prevent sexually transmitted disease.

I can't believe Perry was so dumb. I refuse to believe it...
ReplyDeleteI mean, it LOOKS like an assault... but really? Can the governor of Texas be that colossally stupid? On a stage in front of thousands of people?
He's WAY more politically savvy than that.
I sure hope the Doc comes out swinging. He could end Perry's career AND jump to the top of the polls!
Has Paul commented on this? In the first photo he looks threatening, and in the last photo it looks like Perry is pleading with him. Paul obviously got under his skin. Huntsman looks like a child caught in the middle!
ReplyDeleteYou can't comment at Lew's site, so I'll comment here.
ReplyDeletePaulians generally regard this incident as a physical assault by Perry (arm-grabbing etc).
There's a lot of poo-pooing from the ignoranti saying Perry was just being "assertive".
As an exercise for these folks, I suggest they "assert" themselves at their next airport encounter with their TSA buddies, or other friendly members of the enforcement community!
I'd really love to have been able to hear what Perry was saying during that exchange.
ReplyDeleteLooks like somebody (who's name rhymes with slick merry) can't take the heat! The truth hurts and Dr. Paul is all about spreading the truth.
ReplyDeletequick fists(or hands), slow wits.
ReplyDeleteIf Paul doesn't get the nomination, no way I'm voting for that Statist bully.
ReplyDeleteDr. Paul should keep up the pressure. Rick Perry can be goaded, and that's a good thing. Hopefully he'll self-destruct spectacularly.
ReplyDeleteToo bad Dr. Paul did not bust out his high school wrestling moves and tie the Aggie cheerleader into a nice pretzel.
ReplyDeleteI went to a breakfast north of L.A. where Dr. Paul spoke. He said that there were no cross (curse) words from Perry. He seemed amused by the incident.
@jimdigriztn:
ReplyDeleteThis could be his Giuliani moment!
All the candidates except Ron Paul are terrible. Their character decrepit (see those screenshots), their platform's full of loopholes (Mitt Romney is really a democrat!) .. He has a great chance because his competition is markedly pathetic.
ReplyDeleteFuck Bilderberg Perry, Go Ron!
ReplyDeletePic #3 looks like they are playing Family Feud.
ReplyDeleteDr. Paul explains the confrontation, here:

This is what Perry and the establishment media, whether it be MSNBC or Foxnews, is terrified of:

Ron paul is now dominating Obama by TEN POINTS among independents. Uh, oh....
paul has commented on it already:

Why did Perry do it when it could have easily been caught on camera (and it has, of course)?
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe this is simply what arrogance looks like when it's backed by Bilderberg.
Quite frankly, since i'm a pessimist, i don't see this incident have all too much of an impact on the polls.
Remember that many typical Perry-voters don't have a problem with war. Why should they care about their man putting his hand on Ron Paul's arm? They like bullying to begin with.
Was Dr. Paul threatened by the Bigfoot from the Jack Links beef jerky commercials ? !!!
ReplyDeletePerry is used to a kiss ass press. The internet form of media is going to haunt him on this issue for the rest of the race. I noticed Drudge had this up on his site for over a day. He has always given Ron Paul publicity over the last few years, so he must like him.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs and forums will make sure these photos go viral. I really think it is going to hurt Perry's chances.
Grigg wrote an amazing article about this exchange, comparing it to Louis L'Amour characters in a perfect analogy!
