Last night, I asked a D.C. insider about Chris Christie. He stated the obvious, which will be one of the attack points if he can be lured into the race:
Chris Christie is one jelly donut away from a heart attack.
He is literally a RINO but I feel he is more likely to convince Americans to cut social security and medicare than current candidates including Ron Paul..not that he will actually cut it just that he can make people more tolerant of such views.
I just don't see Cristie being a hit with many people. As much as commentators like Limbaugh,Levin, and Hannity make fun of Ron Paul, ("he's ugly, looks like a warlock, a goof, a kook"), many people have realized that Dr. Paul is not very consistent, but also has been very prescient and rather cautious in addressing certain issues. These issues are coming back to bite all these candidates in the ass, while Paul sits there unscathed. The media can ignore him, talk show hosts can call him ugly (boy, I don't see Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, or Levin getting any accolades for good looks these days. These talkshow hosts resort to the same tactics to besmirch Paul (the tactics that they constantly whine about being used on them). They just don't seem to realize that people are getting real sick of the "everything changed after 9/11" mentality. We've been in Afghanistan for over a decade and Iraq will soon be hitting that mark as well. People are sick of all the innocents being killed and quite a few really don't care for this to become the same exact scenario in both Pakistan and Iran. Or at least I hope...
I think, from the tone of your post you meant that he IS consistent.
I had some idiot use the phrase "consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" when referring to Dr Paul, and when I pointed out that the phrase is actually "FOOLISH (or unexamined-I've seen both as RWEmerson quotes) consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" they just tried to explain away and rationalize/justify their ignorance.
They cannot accept that someone can be anti-war, anti-drug war, anti-police state, pro-life (and anti-death penalty), pro-civil rights, and pro-business and use a simple, consistent, easily explained and defended moral core to explain their position.
I'm sure that if Christie runs, some nasty bits of his personal/political life will be found under one of those rolls of fat.
He is also anti gun rights, at least that's what I hear. I haven't researched it yet though.
ReplyDeleteofftopic// There is a Herman Cain ad on the right.

ReplyDeleteloving the Herman Cain ads
ReplyDeleteIt might help him: the average american voter will empathize with his... problem.
ReplyDeletePersonally I can't fathom why anyone cares how big his waistline is.

ReplyDeleteI am no fan of Christie but it's unfair to criticize him for being fat. It's the same argument Ron Paul gets for being "too old".
ReplyDelete"...that Dr. Paul is not very consistent..."
