Rick Santelli does a superb job of taking down NYT columnist and government apologist Tom Friedman, over the Social Security fraud. Santelli backs Friedman into a corner over whether SS is a Ponzi scheme. Wordsmith Friedman's final comeback at Santelli: He said Santelli's question was idiotic.
Also notice Ben Bernanke water carrier Steve Liesman backing up Friedman.
(Thanks2JamesE.Miller)
Video is unavailable. The statists are covering their tracks.
ReplyDeleteWow, Santelli really undressed the intellectual fraud that is Friedman. Friedman avoided his question answering the question remarkably, and was most uncomfortable doing so.
ReplyDeleteFreidman got smacked - Santelli proclaims "I'm done, I feel good". I feel great after watching that
ReplyDeleteSteve Liesman- the economics 'expert' with a journalism degree....
ReplyDeleteAYN RAND SPEAKS TRUTH TO THE MONEY PRINTERS:
ReplyDelete"Money is the barometer of a society’s virtue.
When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion–when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing–when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors–when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you–when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice–you may know that your society is doomed.
Money is so noble a medium that is does not compete with guns and it does not make terms with brutality. It will not permit a country to survive as half-property, half-loot.”
“Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values.
Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced.
Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Watch for the day when it bounces, marked, ‘Account overdrawn.’”
“When you have made evil the means of survival, do not expect men to remain good. Do not expect them to stay moral and lose their lives for the purpose of becoming the fodder of the immoral. Do not expect them to produce, when production is punished and looting rewarded. Do not ask, ‘Who is destroying the world? You are.”
Perfect. Just the way I like it. We are getting down to the brass tacks now and dispensing with the pleasantries and platitudes.
ReplyDeleteThe is exactly the kind of discourse that we need and I'm seeing more of it. Those with moral and rational certitude will destroy those who are not.
It's like a cleansing rain.
Santelli took it to him and didn't relent. Friedman probably went home, kicked his dog and softly cried into his pillow.
ReplyDeleteRick Santelli goes hard....
ReplyDeleteWow,
ReplyDeleteCoupled with the Ron Paul takedown of that punk from Fox, a pretty good day for the homies!!!
Lila-
ReplyDeleteI thank Rand for her influence, despite my many reservations about her ultimate conclusions, and this "distillation" of her thoughts on money is wonderful. 100% correct, and spot on!!!
Kudos for posting!
Is Rand Paul named after Ayn Rand? Inquiring minds want to know....
ReplyDeleteK:
ReplyDeleteNope.
His name is Randall. His wife started calling him Rand for short when they were dating and it stuck.
Sorry to bust the urban legend. Woulda been cool...
It's funny how the woman is trying to talk through it to prevent these two from continuing their debate. Is she trying to save Friedman's ass or what?
ReplyDeleteFor those that can't watch the video, simply type in the names of Rick Santelli and Tom Friedman in the search box on YouTube, the video is on there.
Yeah, let's fix government! It's not a gang of legalized violent monopolists looting and killing virtually at will, it's a machine that breaks down and needs a little maintenance sometimes. That's the ticket!
ReplyDeleteGod save us from Friedman's Machine.
OK, I have a question for the geniuses who think SS is a ponzi scheme and should be abolished. After I ask this question and you realize that I'm right and you are wrong, please answer the question. Here it is:
ReplyDeleteIf SS is abolished and you tell a few million 48+ year olds that they've paid into it for 30 years and will get nothing, WHICH PLANET ARE YOU GOING TO MOVE TO IN ORDER TO SAVE YOUR A$$ FROM THOSE MILLIONS OF PI$$ED OFF 48 YEAR OLDS?
@Anonymous 6:30 PM,
ReplyDeleteWho advocates abolishing it immediately across the board for all age groups?
Anon @630PM
ReplyDeleteYour question has nothing to do with whether or not SS is a ponzi scheme.
Furthermore, if someone adheres fully to property rights then every individual that has paid into SS will receive that sum immediately. SS can be eliminated in a few weeks and everyone can receive what they have paid in.
Next time you post on here with such an arrogant attitude make sure you actually know what you are talking about.
'WHICH PLANET ARE YOU GOING TO MOVE TO IN ORDER TO SAVE YOUR A$$ FROM THOSE MILLIONS OF PI$$ED OFF 48 YEAR OLDS?'
ReplyDeleteWhy go anywhere? Buy some earplugs. Remember, our current SS cash goes into the general fund. The money the boomers put in was spent decades ago.
And what, you think those 48+ year olds will do anything more than protest? The boomers that do gripe might get off the couch. They might even write a nasty email to their congress critter. Oh no! They may even show up for a protest or 4 to relive the glory days. But that will be it.
Stop the SS ponzi now. Stop penalizing EVERYONE. Stop the bleeding so we can truly heal our country's economy.
'Who advocates abolishing it immediately across the board for all age groups?'
ReplyDeleteI do. Reform Social Security. End the ponzi scheme NOW.
Rick Perry ended his chances to be elected POTUS with his remark. If he is the Republican nominee, Obama will have another 4 years. THAT is a 100% certainty.
ReplyDeleteSS is not a ponzi scheme because everyone knows exactly how it works. It is a pay as you go retirement plan and IT WORKS. It has been spectacularly successful - it may not be as profitable for those in the future, but it is all that will be available for most Americans. The markets are just immoral gambling casinos designed to take money from the masses who were forced into it by elimiating corporate pension plans. The markets are a scam and will soon enough be eliminated - right after the next big collapse - the public will not allow them to continue; they will not have the option anyway as the markets will be physically destroyed by angry mobs.
ReplyDeleteSilver Bully,
ReplyDeleteI merely wanted to see the OP's response.
I am also one of those who favors its immediate abolition.
