FedEx Hiring 20,000 for Holiday Season; Sees 12% Hike in Deliveries

When you absolutely positively need an artificial manipulated boom, just get your central banker to start printing money.

Fed Ex says it expects to break holiday shipping records. FedEx has announced that it will hire 20,000 seasonal employees for the holiday season. On Dec. 12, the projected busiest day in company history, the company expects to move more than 17 million shipments, a 10% increase. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, FedEx estimates 260 million shipments, a 12% increase. FedEx said the impact of the increased volume was included in its earnings forecast issued in September.

Some of this is likely the result of more consumers shopping online, but there is no indication that retail stores expect a cutback in their business, so you do have more money out there bidding up goods.

The stock is up 2.5% on the news.
