God is Sure Not Talking to the Vatican about Economics

It appears that factions within the Vatican have decided that God has dumped free will as a guiding principle and replaced it with a George Soros-type type plan for a central economic authority.

The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a "global public authority" and a "central world bank" to rule over financial institutions that, according to the Vatican, have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises, reports Reuters.

"Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority," was at times very specific, Reuters notes, calling, for example, for the Soros promoted taxation measures on financial transactions.

"The economic and financial crisis which the world is going through calls everyone, individuals and peoples, to examine in depth the principles and the cultural and moral values at the basis of social coexistence," it said.

It condemned what it called "the idolatry of the market" as well as a "neo-liberal thinking" that it said looked exclusively at technical solutions to economic problems.

"In fact, the crisis has revealed behaviours like selfishness, collective greed and hoarding of goods on a great scale," it said, adding that world economics needed an "ethic of solidarity" among rich and poor nations.

These are some real head scratchers. Hoarding of goods on a great scale? Collective greed?

The Vatican also called for another Soros favorite the establishment of "a supranational authority" with worldwide scope and "universal jurisdiction" to guide economic policies and decisions.

Such an authority should start with the United Nations as its reference point but later become independent and be endowed with the power to see to it that developed countries were not allowed to wield "excessive power over the weaker countries".

Hopefully, Tom Woods can shed some light on what is going on at the Vatican.

  1. It's frightening that this is actually suggested. And we're told that global government is not a goal held by elites around the world?

  2. Thanks, Bob. Actually, it's The Church and the Market, not the title linked in the piece, that deals with these issues. I have a horrendously busy week coming up, yet I'm not sure I can keep quiet on this. In the interim, here's what I wrote on the related Benedict encyclical some time ago. I'm sure it's about the same as what I'd say now: http://takimag.com/article/truth_charity/#axzz1bi7Xsdvx

  5. I dont know why anyone is surprised...Religion has a history of controlling humans thru violence. Just who does he think should be the "supranational authority"? Can I become the head person if I kill the head person? Collectivists are just stupid and violent monkeys.

  6. Sadly, the Vatican is up to its ears in this mess as the Vatican bank has been used to launder funds. They are part of the problem not part of the solution.

  9. Another compliant surrogate for the Rothschilds, from rense.com

"....Early in the 19th century the Pope came to the Rothschilds to borrow money. The Rothschilds were very friendly with the Pope, causing one journalist to sarcasticly say "Rothschild has kissed the hand of the Pope...Order has at last been re-established."39 The Rothschilds in fact over time were entrusted with the bulk of the Vatican's wealth. The Jewish Ency., Vol. 2, p.497states, ,,It is a somewhat curious sequel to the attempt to set up a Catholic competitor to the Rothschilds that at the present time (1905) the latter are the guardians of the papal treasure." Researcher Eustice Mullins writes that the Rothschilds took over all the financial operations of the worldwide Catholic Church in 1823.(40) Today the large banking and financial business of the Catholic Church is an extensive system interlocked with the Rothschilds and the rest of the International Banking system..."

  12. "The document is a “Note” from a rather small office in the Roman Curia. The document’s specific recommendations do not necessarily reflect the settled views of the senior authorities of the Holy See; indeed, Fr. Federico Lombardi, the press spokesman for the Vatican, was noticeably circumspect in his comments on the document and its weight. As indeed he ought to have been. The document doesn’t speak for the Pope, it doesn’t speak for “the Vatican,” and it doesn’t speak for the Catholic Church.
As for the document itself, no morally alert person objects to bringing discussions of global finance within the ambit of moral reasoning; that is an entirely worthy intention. Catholics (and others) are entirely free to disagree — as many already have, and vociferously — with the specific suggestions of the Justice and Peace document. Father Reese and other advocates of the Catholic Revolution That Never Was will likely try to brand those critics “dissidents,” which is more “rubbish, rubbish, rubbish.” That the specific recommendations of the document reflect what will seem to many an uncritical internationalism of a distinctly Euro-secular provenance is an interesting matter that will doubtless be discussed, vigorously, within the Catholic family for some time to come. So will the tension between more recent Catholic discussions of transnational and international political authority and the core Catholic social-ethical principle of subsidiarity, with its settled opposition to political and economic megastructures and concentrations of power." - George Weigel http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/281140/pope-chaplain-ows-rubbish-george-weigel

  13. Lila,

Let's just call it "The Babylonian Captivity, Part II."

For all of his shameless corruption, at least Rodrigo Borgia (Pope Alexander VI) never tried to set up a central bank.

  14. Hard to understand the 'hoarding of goods' stuff. Does the Vatican even realize how much it costs to warehouse goods that have been hoarded? At some point the warehouse costs will exceed the value of the goods. That is why goods need to be moved from the warehouse as soon as possible.

  15. Who could have possibly predicted that the Vatican would help usher in a predicted event in Revelations that sets the stage for the Anti-Christ?

Fascinating yet terrifying and I'm an agnostic.

  16. The Vatican is choosing global socialism in order to survive in the NWO...Everyone is now choosing a side...the side of violent political power. Global Political Terrorism is ramping up faster now.

  17. The Vatican is just as corrupt as the nation states who rule us. We have learned nothing from the days of Samuel when he warned us about this very thing...
