According to WaPo, less than half of Americans know that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is a Mormon, despite recent media attention focused on his faith, a new survey shows.
Just four in 10 Americans — 42 percent — identified the former Massachusetts governor as a Mormon, according to the Washington-based Public Religion Research Institute.
Hell, probably less than half of Americans know that Massachusetts is a state and not some colony they learned about in grade school history like Roanoke.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago I was shocked to discover that a friend didn't know what Hiroshima was (she thought it might be a sushi restaurant). She was a 40-year old graduate of a major university and very successful in business. As a personal experiment, I subsequently brought up the word Hiroshima with others in casual conversations for evidence of recognition and discovered that she was not unique in her ignorance.
The Jay Walking segment on the Tonight Show is clearly not contrived.
Am I the only one, who when they first read the title, thought it said "Less Than Half of Americans Know Romney’s a Moron"?
ReplyDeleteI thought it read 'moron' too!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: You're not alone. That's what I first thought it said, too. ;-D
ReplyDeleteMake that 3. He's both moron AND Mormon.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with Mormonism so long no one is forced into it.
ReplyDeleteI bet far less know his real first name is Willard
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with moronism so long as no one is forced to vote for you...
