Occupiers Arrested Near NYU

Saturday night, a group of Occupy Wall Street protesters held a meeting near New York University in Washington Square Park to discuss whether to set up a permanent occupation there.

Washington Square is a public space controlled by the City of New York that's subject to a 12 a.m. closing time imposed by NYC's Department of Parks and Recreation (In the old days, in the middle of winter at 4:00 AM, you could buy any illegal drug made on the planet, in the Park). As midnight approached, NYPD in riot gear arrived and arrested those who refused to leave. Mother Jones caught on video the developments leading up to the arrests:
