  1. I was actually going to send this ad to you, but I knew that you would see it anyway. I concur: Awesome ad!!!

Short, sweet and to the point, as well as great production.

  2. after carefully weighing all the issues and reading all I can find I can only conclude that Ayn Rand is the Anti-Christ and the PaulBots are her unholy army.

the rise of Ron Paul is the final sign of the Barack-o-lypse. And thats good. I mean not good for him but I hope to be raptured off this rock, very soon....

  7. This seems like an ad for the Fox network. Not the most introspective audience. I smell backlash.

  8. The Paul campaign certainly knows how to make ads that appeal to the Republican constituency.

  9. So the anti-Christ died without power or control over anything? You must have a different bible than most. Also followers of Ron Paul tend to be more inclined to agree with Mises and Rothbard over an objectivist like Rand. You might have read all you could find but it appears you found very little to read.

  10. @ Anonymous (1:33PM):

I think you might be confusing few issues here; the fact that Ron Paul does not pick bone with some aspects of Ayn Rand's philosophy, does not make him adhere to every letter that Ayn ever said. In fact, Ron has been very explicit about his views on his faith and it is I think pretty clearly outlined here:

  11. This is an awesome ad, hope it is targeted to the right audience, I have read many comments from Paul circles that are not terribly fond of it, at least for a general audience.

Paul's ad team is top notch this year. I wonder how much it costs to make something like this.

  12. "I wonder how much it costs to make something like this."

Most ads (esp. political ads) are low-budget (or, ultra-low budget). Also, the graphical technology has become cheaper and more prevalent for the consumer. I would imagine that the ad probably costs less than $200k to produce (including graphics and post), which is chump change compared to the price paid to air it in the Iowa market at this time of high demand.

There are plenty of folks looking for work in 'Aftereffects' and 'Motion' graphics, so that market is relatively cheap right now. Unfortunately, the market for prime-time ad space is quite tight, especially in reserved markets during campaign season.

I'd be willing to bet that the Paul campaign is paying far more to air the ad than what they paid to produce it.

  13. I would think the advertisement itself cost $10K or less to produce. The voice-over probably cost $500-$1500. I'd assume it's a non-union gig with just a straight buyout (no residuals). The rest of the commercial is graphics and video clips. Computers make it all so much easier than just a few years ago.

I could be underestimating, but I'd think $200K would be WAY overkill. The media buy is the expensive part.
