LOL, Newt Gingrich Calls for a Commission to Study the Gold Standard

Is Ron Paul powerful or what?

Newt Gingrich said the following today:
Part of our approach ought to be to reestablish something Ronald Reagan did in 1981 and that is to have a Commission on Gold to look at the whole concept of how do we get back to hard money.
Of course, Gingrich is saying this because like Michelle Bachmann and others before, Gingrich is trying to grab Ron Paul votes.

Message to Newt:

Ron Paul already wrote the book on The Case for Gold, when he was on the Reagan commission. No need for a new commission just read the book. It comes in a pocket edition.

    1. I just read Paul's book last month. Its amazing and gives you all the ammo you need to argue with people who laugh at the idea of a gold standard.

    1. I would love to see him do that. "Hey Newt, I heard you wanted to investigate the gold standard, well here's a book that will tell you all about it, and you don't have to spend millions of dollars of taxpayers' money in the process. I signed it for you too."

Maybe instead, we can use that money to fund a commission to investigate how to surgically remove Newt's head from his rectum. I mean, it's stuck so far up there that he is literally full of himself.

  4. Gingrich and his commission can go pound salt! No need for a 'commission'! Plenty of us understand how to go back to hard money!

  5. Newt wants a commission to look into everything. Just listen to him speak:
    1. Was Reagan's right hand man
    2. Has studied and wrote books about saving us for the last 30 odd years.
3.Wants a commission to look into.....

  7. What is so flaming hard, Newt? Just follow the good Doctor's prescription: remove the Federal Reserve's monopoly on creating currency and restore a free market. Stop screwing with the people's right to determine what is sound money.

  9. Ron Paul pushed for and got the Gold Commission under Reagan. Reagan did it because Ron Paul pushed for it. The pro-Gold forces were put in a minority position on the commission, and the findings were baked in, but Paul's minority report is classic. Newt is just now thinking this is a good idea? So he can get votes now, and pull the same trick on any future commission.

  10. Let's hope this isn't the fake Bretton Woods gold standard. Laws to seize gold and safe deposit boxes are still on the books.

Honestly, I don't believe our neocon bombfest of a government can be trusted with one more thing, let alone re-nationalizing the currency and lying about gold and silver. The whole thing will come crashing down with our government's fraudulent behavior.

I support what Ron Paul says about having competing private currency, including gold/silver without tax penalties. However, our neocon Bomb-And-Print nation cannot be trusted with fully nationalized currency, gold or not. Especially if the currency returns to the government and they can just directly bomb-and-print without the anti-hyperinflation barrier of the partially-privatized Federal Reserve System.

  11. Gingrich was one of the seven cosponsors of Jack Kemp's Gold Standard Act of 1984; he's not an arriviste. The Gold Commission was created as the result of pressure applied by Sen. Jesse Helms, who forced the authorizing legislation under the pen of Jimmy Carter. You could look it up. To follow the action: http://www.thegoldstandardnow.org/....

  12. Yes, I'm buying a pocket addition and mailing it to Newt and Ben Bernanke today!

Most who picked up this article made it sound like the idea originated with Newt Gingrich.
