Romney-Rand Paul Ticket?

FOX talking head just threw out the idea that if Romney is nominated, he may tap Rand Paul for the Vice-Presidential spot.

  1. Please, no. If Rand accepts, he will be a lost cause.

  2. Ooh, that'd be cunning as hell.

  3. Oh brother. Would that be the Adams-Jefferson ticket of today?

One champion for the Alien and Sedition Acts (hailing from Massachusetts) and another for the Kentucky Resolve (while not from Virginia, a Senator from Kentucky).

    Interesting.

  4. They're looking for ways to corrupt him.

  5. Romney has been very diplomatic towards Ron Paul. Something fishy is afoot. But if Rand Paul accepted the VP slot in a Romney administration, it would be a repudiation of everything he claims to believe in, and a betrayal of his father's work. I hope it doesn't happen.

  6. Yep, that's when we know Rand's been bought. I donated to his campaign but I've never been more than luke warm on him. Just don't trust him... too much of an opportunist (standing on Ron's shoulders), moderated, politically calculating. Not all-in like Ron. Rand is one to watch out for, I can see him turning on us (the die-hard Ron Paul people). I feel like he's taken advantage of us alreadly.

  7. Then all we would have to do is make Mittens disappear... Seems actually a lot easier than winning over sheeple

  8. No.No.No. Unless Romney is willing to disavow just about every statement he has made on foreign policy, he would not be an acceptable running mate for Rand Paul. If Rand Paul allows himself to be co-opted in that way, I wouldn't vote for the ticket.

  9. I hope to God Rand doesn't do that. He has a lot of work to do in the Senate. As VP he would be bound by convention not to work against the President.

  10. Fading was their vote fraud tactic, cooption is how they reduce the rebelliousness of the population segment. Making Rand VP serves the same purpose as making Obama president did. Tried and true Roman tactic. Creepy.

  11. I'd support that.

  12. I would not vote for it.

Romney's campaign may be aware that if he wins the nomination, a large segment of Paul's supporters will opt to write him in if he doesn't run third party. Taking on Rand has nothing to do with respect for his views, it's all about trying to capture the Paul vote to beat Obama. Without capturing that vote, he's already lost. The ultimate oppotunist at work.

  13. Willard "Stop Me When You Hear Something You Like" Romney is a windsock. He's flipped on a number of issues. He's lying slime, but I don't think he is a "nuke-the-ragheads-for-Jesus-and-Israel" true believer in the vein of Bachmann, Perry and Santorum. He's saying it because the others Cool Kids are saying it, so he thinks he'd better. He *has* no convictions, beyond What's Good For Mitt Romney's Poll Numbers. I can see him embracing "Ron-Paul-lite" foreign policy rhetoric if he saw that as the path to the White House. What he'd do once elected is another matter.

  14. Unless Mitt becomes terminally ill, not voting for that.

  15. It amazes me how oblivious we are here in America to the concept of political coalitions. It is much wiser for a Presidential candidate and his VP to come from slightly different camps, and in doing so represent both camps in the government they form. Right now the UK has a Tory Prime Minister and a Liberal Deputy Prime Minister. Do they agree on all issues? No. But they get along and respect each other, and part of the process of compromise involves having both viewpoints present in governance.

Here in America though everything is all or nothing. Pretty sad.

  16. Would love to see it. VP has more influence than a Senator. Excellent way to keep his ideals in the limelight. Plus as a VP nominee it gives him a better platform for a 2016 or 2020 run at President.
