No, look at Santorum's face and eyes when he starts talking about Iran. You can almost see a thought bubble above his head with a mushroom cloud in it. He is off kilter. I loved in his introduction last night when he mentioned how everyone is concerned about various problems, including that the middle east is in flames or something.
I saw that too and thought it was strange. The pat on the back shows that it must have been some kind of amicalbe comment. Maybe, good job kicking my ass tonight.
I've seen that handshake before. Here in the Midwest its unconventional vigor seems to offer a positive message, as in, "Well done," "Good try," or "I really get what you are doing." However, it also has an overtone of dominance or superiority.
You'll never receive a handshake like that against a competitor unless said competitor feels more respect for you. I want Ron Paul to get more handshakes like that.
Santorum's really pissed and projecting it through the handshake. He's trying to appear good natured about it...but the guy above is right...it's monkey dominance type stuff borne out of the frustration of Ron Paul telling everyone the truth about Santorum.
Santorum is that frustrated to where he can barely control himself and covering it up with a disengenuous smile...
I love it...the other candiates can dish it out but not take it. It shows who the real man is. At least Romney took his lumps like a man and no knows to steer clear of Ron Paul, truth teller extraordinaire.
Maybe Jay Leno or Jon Stewart will photoshop it up and have the handshake end with Ron Paul executing a Jiu jitsu throw of Santorum off the stage. That would be cool.
I just can't imagine being that physically aggressive towards a man as old as Ron. Even if I was angry, I'd like to think I would express my aggression linguistically towards a 76 year old.
wasn't this the debate where Ron called Rick a fake? (I watched the Jon Stewart video on this) and Rick's reply was that he was real and extended his hand/arm to Ron. but Ron didn't touch it? I am thinking that he may have been trying to prove further that is for "real".... like in, "see... feel my powerful handshake, I am real" it looked very juvenile on Santorum's part. very weird man.
I'm from the Midwest and I've Never seen a handshake like that before. So it must be something new, or something done very seldom?
It almost looked more like Sanitorium was trying to give Ron Paul a lift up and Ron Paul pulled back indicating he didn't need Sanitorium's stinkin' help, so Sanitorium trys yet again and Ron Paul, probably being stronger than Sanitorium, pulls back yet again to demonstrate his superior strength even though Santroium is younger. It was strange, that's for sure.
It caught my interest immediately.........like Santorum's thinking "hey, Ron, you sure got me, but I gotta hand it to you, you are beyond reproach"............
Santorum is a nut and mentally unstable.
ReplyDeleteAll leftist believes anyone is mentally unstable if they don't have the same views as them.

DeleteIt's a douchebag trying to be good-natured.
ReplyDeleteJim Harbaugh thought he should've gone with the backslap.

ReplyDeletemonkey behavior dominance display, kinda like when someone tries to crush your hand.
ReplyDeleteTo me it says "watch out for the other hand coming at my back with a knife"
ReplyDeleteI think Santorum is trying to display his vitality against the more senior Paul.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say.... FAIL.

What a jerk. That's not how I shake the hand of people twice my age and three or four times my intelligence.

ReplyDeleteIt's called being a D-Bag.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we are all reading too much into this and Mr. Santotum is simply acknowledging that he knows REAL presidential material when he sees it...

ReplyDeleteJust remember how Rick Perry ended up. He also showed some aggressive gestures to Dr. Paul.
