Newt: "Supply and Demand Don't Work"

Kurt Davis emails:
I was listening to Bill Bennett's morning show at about 8:00 am today and heard Newt. After listening to his foolish recipe for $1.30 gas, he then made the bold statement with respect to oil and gas that "supply and demand don't work" (thus, government intervention is needed).

Ugh!!!

By the way, I tried to find audio of it for you, but it does not seem to be available as of yet.

  2. What a stupid statement. Then again, it's Gingrich.

Supply and demand work just fine, it's just that sometimes the end result isn't always what we like. Unfortunately, people don't want to accept that doing it any other way is just going to cause more problems.

  4. This verbiage constitutes brains? Obviously the goof is a product of the public school system and looks like the best we got? Dope on a rope for sure.

  5. With the economy being the most important issue now, I don't know how anyone is voting for Santorum or Gingrich. Romney isn't much better.
Even if we were completely dependent on our own oil i really doubt it would get anywhere close to $1.30. The cost of doing business here is far more expensive than some 3rd world country.
Supply and demand works just fine. No oil companies are going to produce more oil than they can profit from.
With OSHA and environmental whacks jumping down the oil fields throat, it will only get more expensive. What government agency ever stops coming up with new rules and regulations?

  6. For once I agree with Newty. We have an over abundant supply of him even when we demand he go away...

In this case, supply and demand really doesn't work.
