This is interesting by I would like to see advancement in the game based on the closing down of government agencies and an understanding of Austrian economics and the business cycle.
need to know more details in the game does RP ...... close Guantanamo ? set the economy free ? make people richer ? close dozens of USG departments ? and so on ....... ? 99guspuppet <== google
I've toyed for a long time with the idea of a SIMS/Civilization type game where the user plays god, capable of interfering on every level of the simulated world. The punchline would be that to win the game, the player has to do nothing. The society depicted in the game will stifle and die to the degree that the player interferes and the society will flourish to the degree that the player refrains from meddling.
Keep in mind that the player would need to be a world dictator, not god. God could theoretically improve things by reducing scarcity, whereas a dictator can only poke holes in the capital structure.
I've thought about this as well, but just now realized how it needs to be done:
Start as a communist society, that way the user has something to do . . . it then becomes a game of 'find the fastest way to dismantle beauracracy.' If you don't dismantle in the right order (and you need to have a power indicator for corporations) then one of the monopolists or the Fed will oust you from power. The controllers of the media can be controlled by unknown Fed government entities. You could invest in personal security, but to do so weakens your political base . . . anyone else have ideas?
This is directly related to a plan of mine, and readers of this post may also be interested and perhaps provide some delp. 7 years ago, I proposed the idea of libertarian revisions to Civilization the PC game in an article to address the flawed concept of anarchism and governments in that game series. http://decentralist.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/anarchist-revisions-for-civilization-the-pc-game/ My ideas would not only massively add to the realistic nature of human action into a video game, but it would likely give players insight into the nature of reality, as they would play and see the world works most realistically in Misesian and Rothbardian structural concepts.
You probably know the history of Monopoly as originally “The Landlord’s Game” that tried to explain Henry George’s philosophy in a game, but not terribly well. I’ve already set up ideas better than that…but needing completion.
Only recently I discovered there is a giant “indie game movement”. My idea is no longer far-fetched. Instead of pitching to mega-corporate game companies who would not be interested, there is an actual possibility of finding indie game developers who could program this.
Besides that article, I’ve also set up a concept document on Google Docs to help explain the structures of the game. Much is done and I’m almost ready to start making formulas for each turn. I think I need to find a knowledgeable Rothbardian programmer to help bring this to the next stage. I intend for the core concept to be copy-left and open where people can debate the underlying formulas, presumably even implement it freely as a board game, but that might involve massive manual calculations, while the particular game itself to be copyrighted and sellable.
So I hope you don’t mind this reply to your post as hope of finding libertarians who might be interested in helping me further my concept to complete game. I can give a link to my Google Doc concepts to any Rothbardians willing to participate.
I like the ideas above. Building on the "Civilization" concept, perhaps the game could be centered around a simulated Ron Paul Revolution. What I mean is, the world/country exists as it does now (with overwhelming beuracracy and very little individual liberty) and the goal is to voluntarily interact with others to convert them to the ideals of liberty. As more and more see the light, the economy improves, freedom grows, and government intervention shrinks.
I have daydreamed about something similar many times. I would like to see the action figure sort of throw economics books as a weapon. As you move up, you "upgrade" your weapon and eventually throw massive nukes by throwing "human action"s or "man economy and state"s , etc. Make it clear that the theme is really a battle against economic ignorance and viral economic fallacies.
I imagine a game where you play Ron Paul with super powers. Flying around, spreading the message of liberty, gathering delegates, fist fighting Fox News hosts, dodging assassinations from Rothschild thugs, defeating evil global bankers with laser vision, etc.
That game should be called Age of Anarcho-Capitalist.

I hope the sequel is an FPS instead of a side-scroller.
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. A. Non-violent. Revolution.

ReplyDeleteGo for it, somebody.

DeleteCool idea but it seems to have the same flaw as govt itself.
DeleteThere is nothing for the 'player' to do that helps.
But the player still wants to play.
