On Tax Freedom Day Ron Paul issued a statement, which said in part:
Knowing that every penny the average American has earned from January 1st until today has gone to pay federal, state, or local taxes is a frightening reminder of how much liberty modern Americans have lost. Unfortunately, even after Tax Freedom Day, Americans will still suffer from the Federal Reserve’s regressive and hidden inflation tax, which erodes their purchasing power for the benefit of big banks and big-spending politicians...
My ultimate goal remains to repeal the 16th Amendment and end the tyranny of the IRS once and for all. Of the four men seeking the presidential nomination of one of the major parties – President Obama, Governor Romney, Speaker Gingrich, and myself – I am the only one who has consistently opposed increases in taxes and spending. I am also the only one who has consistently fought the Federal Reserve’s assault on the middle class’ standard of living. My campaign to Restore America Now is the clear choice for any American concerned about rolling back taxes, cutting spending, and curbing inflation.
This is a political misstep for RP. He should be saying his ultimate goal is to end the fed, as part of eliminating all taxes on *poor* people.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't understand and never will... there is a candidate telling people he wants to stop taxing them. Why doesn't everyone just vote for him? Isn't taxes basically the only thing that really impacts a majority of people?
ReplyDeletePeople don't want to end taxes as long as they view it being mostly imposed on those wealthier than they, and as long as those voting get tax financed goodies.
DeleteANON at 8 am.
DeleteAgreed. But it is also the "invisible" nature of payroll with holdings that add to the sense of immunity.
Americans are envious and covetous of the wealth of others. They don't want freedom. They like a government that will do things to them, so long as the resulting chains appear to be gold plated. They like politicians that stir up class envy. Humans by nature are slaves. They don't yearn to be free, responsible, independent people. Until this wholly selfish and self-centered people awakens from their slumber and learns to hate their slavery to government, until the iron of their chains eats into their soul, things are going to get worse.
Delete50% of American do not pay income tax.
DeleteA Prtesident cannot repeal a Constitutional Amendment. In his decades in Congress, Dr. Paul has shown himself incapable of ever persuading that body to pass a single law of national significance. In his own limited world, he has admitted he lacks the capacity to even be responsible for running a newsletter. Putting the free world under the control of someone show publicly spouts nonsense like "Israel created Hamas" would insult every family who has ever had someone give their life to preserve our freedoms
Delete.
The other 50% ARE TOO DUMB TO READ THE LAW!!!
Delete>>> "A Prtesident cannot repeal a Constitutional Amendment." ... You're absolutely correct, albeit: With TWO, three-inch thick VOLUMES of documented proof the 16th (pseudo) Amendment was NEVER LAWFULLY RATIFIED, IS THUS REPUGNANT TO THE CONSTITUTION and therefore NULL & VOID ON ITS FACE, he can certainly initiate its rescission with excellent prospects for successful completion of its elimination!!! ...
DeleteAs for "... would insult every family who has ever had someone give their life to preserve our freedoms." ... NO BODY OF 100-MEN could come near TOPPING THAT DESPICABLE ACT, TO THE EXTENT THIS KENYAN WHITE HOUSE SQUATTER HAS ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED SUCH TREACHERY!!!!
Israel originally supported Hamas in the Occupied West Bank to weaken the secular PLO - divide and conquer. In fact, the Muslim Brotherhood itself was originally a project of the British Secret Service in occupied Egypt, for the same reason. However, the puppets eventually cut their strings and turned against their masters. Al Qaeda is the most notorious example of this phenomenon (so far).
Delete"He who robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on Paul's support". All Western democracies are now overflowing with "Pauls" who will continue to vote for socialists and will resist to their dying breath any change to the status quo nanny state that they love so much and see as so beneficial to themselves.
DeleteYou give MOST Americans FAR too much (intellectual) credit!
DeleteTo the dolt who posted at Apr 18, 2012 05:41 PM You are a moron, Israel did create Hamas. Go read a history book and stop relying on the TV for your thinking.
DeleteThe only alternative this election is GARY JOHNSON. He will cut spending, balance the budget, and eliminate the income tax. VOTE LIBERTARIAN! There is no real choice among Republicans or Democrats. www.garyjohnson2012.com
DeleteBottom line, those that reap monetary gain love the Marxism while supporting it's purveyors.
ReplyDeleteas i said on the political page of yahoo-the only reason that the Republicans chose Romney is if Obama wins we get obamacare AND if Romney wins we get romneycare AND ether way we get screwed.the only way to win is to vote Ron Paul.that's what i'm going to do!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe future of the USA depends upon sound fiscal and monetary policy. Ron Paul is the only candidate that has offered a real plan to address these issues.
ReplyDeleteI think Ron Paul is the solution to our problem...I just don't understand why others in greater numbers do not! The bottom line is that until we fix the USA...the USA is no good to anyone or any country! He is a man who has not changed his "tune" in 20+ years. What else speaks to integrity that this? We are going to miss out on having a GREAT president for this perilous time.
ReplyDeleteAnd as frustrating as it is for me to say this...I will vote for the party candidate...because I firmly believe that the USofA will not survive another dose of Obama.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE MSM ANTI-BODY-COUNT OF Ron Paul faithful; We ARE OUT HERE & PREPARING FOR THE VOTE THEFT!!! ... See VoteProof.com and KEEP THE FAITH!!!
DeleteYour party president is the who one sent us on a downward spiral with 20 Billion a month wars (not even essential wars), vote block gift check to gov assisted medicare aid,
Deleterich cat tax breaks for 1 trillion...and of course the gift check to big bank cronies via AIG bail out. Dont forget LEH had to go down otherwise AIG would not have been required to make those payments directed to particular companies.
If you add all these big ticket items it is 9 Trillion with a T. Nation is paying back for its commissions in Broward County and Supreme Court appointing an incompetent president
It is perfectly fine to be a FOX follower, balloon follower or a simpleton partison to vote the way you wish.
Vote for Bain Capital and expect a fair game. That is fine too. No takers here for rationale or reason. And there is no need to stick it on this Administrtion which has tried its best to drag us out of the mess, despite Congress. Ron Paul should go after shutting down Congress. What does it do? May be 1 House Rep from each state -- that would be a good start. How about freezing their ever increasing pay package for all the tweeting and paging they indulge in?
Anything useful out of them for the benefits and paychecks these fine public servents take home. Do we need all of them? Ron Paul has the tenacity to go after them. God Bless Ron Paul.
no govt at all would be far better than the one we've had since the early 1900s.
ReplyDeleteThat may be overstating things a bit, but not by much. The start of the current "Federal Reserve" in 1910 was a big step toward screwing us over. FDR did a great job getting the entitlement ball rolling to screw us over some more. We've been going down a long slippery slope at increasing speed in the decades since. We certainly have not had a good president in my lifetime (since 1960). Our best presidents in that time have simply sucked less than the others.
DeleteHow can people in power relate to the masses (ordinary people) who constitute the bulk of this country's law abiding, tax paying and hard working citizens.
ReplyDeleteThey are all multi-millionaires of great wealth with connections and, unfortunately, the people at the top who rule this country at every level. They only understand and relate to self serving politics, power, and money which fuels their own pockets and interests.
Check out congressional pay and social security benefits.
The amendment which authorized I.R.S.was not ratified by the states at that time. It is not valid.
DeleteHow can people in power relate to the masses (ordinary people)......... It shouldn't be that hard, everything they spend money on is made by the ordinary people. Without the ordinary people, poor helpless creatures they would be.
DeleteThe Income tax and deficit spend has destroyed the economy and our freedom.
ReplyDeleteOne of the comments above asked, why are there not more people supporting Ron Paul? The answer is simple, the news media and both parties has convinced the people that he is unelectable. Thats what is real scary, how easy it is to program much of america. Its questionable whether Romney can beat the communist, Obama. If he does, I believe the same old crap will continue. Policing the world, taxing the hell out of working people and the continuing growth of big government.
ReplyDeleteWhat is scary is the fact that people in this country are so gullible. People you normally think to be halfway intelligent are still willing to vote for Obama even though his policies have wrecked their businesses. I have heard my boss say, "Yeah, Ron Paul has good Ideas, but he isn't electable. Besides Obama hasn't been that bad overall." This guy owns half of a multimillion dollar per year company. Since Obama has been in office, our business has lost close to a fourth of its income.
DeleteDavid sums it up best:

The unthinking, led by the thinking, are being thought to death!
Your first sentence tells it all!
Deleteend the fed...obama.........romney.......and the rest of the facist nazi bastards!
ReplyDeleteRon Paul is the only candidate who values his belief in what is truly right for America (and in my opinion is right) over being a politician and sucking up to the voters. That is what got us into this mess - suck up politicians telling the voters what they want to hear and buying off their votes with more handouts and spending than we could afford.... Hello $15 TRILLION national debt and trillion $ deficits!! It's insane! And the American population is so addicted to their handouts that they keep voting for more of the same. It's shameful, what's been done to this country!
ReplyDeleteYou have a population that is 5% of the world's and a military budget that is 50% of the world's. You have an education, health, and social program sharing of the GDP that is less than existed in Iraq prior to the 91 assualt. What handouts? The true answer is "the handouts that the Military Industrial Complex and coporate America get through illegal war to acquire mineral wealth paid for by the average citizen."
DeleteExcuse me? We spend less annually on defense, including the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, than we do on Medicare. Social Security also costs us more each year than national defense. If add up Federal Pensions, Unemployment Compensation, Food Stamps, Welfare, and Interest on the Debt, the total also exceeds defense spending. Even without Interest on the Debt, we spend 3 times as much money annually on the social programs I mentioned than we do on defense. So, are we a Military Industrial Complex or a Social Welfare complex?
DeleteDo your figures take into account the money taken from all of our paychecks to pay for social security and medicare? I assume by "we" you mean the government in terms of what "we" spend. "We" don't have a choice on how our tax money is spent. It is taken from us by force or threat of force. None of the wars fought since WW2 have been declared by congress. Who is actually making these decisions? It's not the people...
DeleteRon Paul is by far the best Man for America.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me? Annual defense spending including the cost of our (un)declared wars is currently less than Medicare. It's also less than Social Security. Defense is also annually exceeded by the combined cost of Federal Pensions, interest on the Debt, and income security programs (which includes things like Food Stamps, Welfare, Unemployment Compensation, and Foster Care, etc.). Even without interest on the debt, we still spend 3 times as much money on all the Social programs I mentioned as we do on defense. So is it a military industrial complex or a social welfare complex?
Deleteif god ran for pres on the heaven on earth party platform she would be unelectable. if she did win she would be assassinated.

I'm, all for Dr. Paul: Give him a leg up!
Ron Paul is the ONLY choice for true conservative thinking Americans, and for multiple good reasons: not just that he wants to abolish the Income Tax & IRS. But most Americans now get more out of this corrupt & failing system than they put into it, thus out of selfishness they continue to vote to perpetuate the failing system & corrupt politicians who are only too glad to appease them regardless of what happens to the nation as a whole. Also, most Americans are the product of brain-washing government run schools that want to dumb-down the population and turn their brains off. They've done a good job (look at how American education ranks world-wide). Finally, the Power Elite controlled MSM feeds the sheeple of America a series of stories to control their beliefs & behaviors. Their ultimate goal: the trashing of the Constitution, loss of USA sovereignty, the political & economic collapse of America so as to bring in a One World Order & One World Currency (when the US Dollar collapses to zero value).
ReplyDeleteOther options besides Ron Paul:
Constitution Party candidate
Libertarian Party candidate (if it's one that is pro-life)
Please don't vote for big government, Statists: Obama or Romney.
I'm a supporter of freedoms and liberties and any one who is also for these things. Go Ron Paul. But, there is something about ur quote above that I don't understand. You seem to be for liberties and freedoms but wish to restrict one of those things by only supporting pro-life. Thus taking away someone's choice of being able to determine a bad situation, ie rape, health issues, ability to provide for another. Its like the Bible, you can't just pick and choose what you like and leave out the rest. As Jefferson said: I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

Israel did help crate Hamas to counterbalance the PLO, and then their creation continues to bite them in the rear. No different than the US "creating" OBL and Al Qaeda to counter the then Soviets in Afghanistan - blowback is a reality. Denying the historical fact is not helpful and shows an inability to accurately discern what’s going on in the world today, and, therefore, steps we can take to right the ship.
ReplyDeleteWith the POTUS position comes the bully pulpit to get popular support for necessary actions.
It's up to "we the people" to make things happen! If everyone posting on this site would also contact their legislators with their concerns I bet things will change. TELL them (we forget that they work for US)what you want and see how fast things change.
ReplyDeleteIt's always curious to see people's misperceptions and ideas about the 16th Amendment when they haven't read the law. Ron Paul does not have to repeal the 16th Amendment. All he has to do is enforce the law. The Supreme Court has ruled FOUR count 'em FOUR times that the 16th Amendment created NO NEW TAX. The Constitution prohibits direct taxation and the 16th Amendment did not repeal that. An executive order clarifying these facts of law is all that should be necessary.
ReplyDeleteBravo! Good post on 16th amendment. It is dragged out by many who are ignorant of what you point out that it created no new tax and used as a red herring to distract everyone from the truth. The Supreme Court has also ruled that no part of the constitution or amendment to it can disagree with any other part, so the 16th amendment cannot change the plain language that a direct tax like the income tax can only be levied by apportionment so it never can be lawful as presently implemented.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest impact of the 16th Amendment was symbolic. It gave the "impression" that the federal government had the power to tax the income of individuals within the 50 States. The Supreme Court ruling pertaining to the 16th Amengment (Brushaber v Union Pacific Railroad - google it) essentially stated that Congress ALWAYS had the power to tax the incomes of individuals and corporations. It did not point out the obvious fact (to the parties of the case at the time) that those individuals and corporations must have income that falls within a Federal Jurisdiction i.e. foreign trade, foreign corporations, foreign individuals doing business in or with the U.S. Brushaber was the agent for a British entity that owned stock in Union Pacific Railroad. State jurisdictions, where most Americans live and work, and Federal Jurisdiction are not the same! Federal Jurisdiction does not supercede State Jurisdiction because technicall they do not overlap (confused yet? /:) The media -then and now - tout the 16th Amendment as authorization for the IRS. Simply not true. The IRS is an agency of the Executive branch which answers ultimately to the Prasident who has the constitutional authority to require the IRS to conduct its activities in strict compliance with the tax laws as passed by Congress. In the case of the income tax it is authorized by that law to collect tax on income from or related to - foreign trade, foreign corporations and foreign individuals doing business with the U.S.
ReplyDeleteRon Paul - by making this statement - is ultimately trying to open up the debate so that hopefully the facts can be revealed and people will begin to understand what the IRS is, and how far they have gone in its misapplication of the law.
He is the only one with the courage to do so! He knows the cost make no mistake. I and my family support him 1000%!
