Pro-Ron Paul Delegates Challenged in Maine

A pro-Ron Paul slate of delegates from Maine to the Republican National Convention is being challenged, reports the Boston Globe.

Peter Cianchette, a prominent Republican leader, and Janet Martens Staples, a Maine representative on the Republican National Committee, filed the challenge to 14 pro-Paul delegates and alternates on Saturday, the last day they could be challenged.

Staples told the Maine Sunday Telegram that there was no quorum at May's Republican state convention when the delegates were elected, that illegal votes were cast and parliamentary rules were broken.

One of the challenged delegates, Matt McDonald, said the challenge is "utter foolishness".

This comes on the heels of the Louisiana Republican Party last Friday afternoon certifying the Republican National Committee its slate of delegates to the party's national convention in Tampa, filling Ron Paul slots with supporters of Mitt Romney.

It's a rigged game.

  1. What is Dr. Paul still doing in the GOP? The GOP is nothing more than one-half of the one Government Party.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but Ron Paul needs to get the hell out of the GOP and run for President as a third-party candidate. He is just wasting his time now.

For those under forty, a "broken record" refers to the old vinyl long-playing music recordings that, if damaged, the "needle" would skip (sort of like a CD glitch).

    1. Scott - I think he tried that on other occasions as a Libertarian candidate. Unless you run for office in one of the wholly owned subsidiary parties (Democrat or Republican) of JP Morgan, you do not get to play. The rules of the game prohibit any individual outside of those "two" parties to participate. And yes, I know quite well where the term "broken record" comes from "-) FWIW, I believe Gary Johnson is the only other Libertarian candidate running in 2012. If I cannot vote for Ron Paul, I will vote for Gary Johnson.

PS - I won't publish my google, facebook, amazon, or any other profile information, but I don't like "Anonymous"
      My name is Joseph.

  2. It's almost a Jesus moment with Romney playing Barrabas. We better be on our way on the road to Damascus. Oh, shoot, Hillary already took that road. :(

  3. This is a wonderful thing for young people to watch. As a result, the intelligent core of a whole generation will know, now and forever, that nothing good can be accomplished by getting involved in politics or by voting.

    1. Totally agree.

the young Paul folks are taking over the GOP at the county level. The oldster GOP establishmen folks are still scratching their heads at the growth of "their" party...

We've won. Lets just hope it's in time to actually fix something.

  4. Lew was right all along. Politics is not the path for our revolution. But he's just done so much education with his presidential runs. Now to decide what is the next step. Nullification? Taking over local governments? Economic secession? The Free State Project? There are lots of ideas, but I'm not really convinced by any of them as long as we have a population that may as well be functionally illiterate when it comes to economic thinking.

  5. I think the republican party got their game plan from the kid in the movie "Big Daddy". Watch this clip, they are both playing the same game:

  9. For Ron Paul supporters, Gary Johnson is the ideal choice. They agree on nearly every major issue. And Gary Johnson WILL be on the ballot in all 50 states. I will vote for Johnson because I want the FED audited and pot legalized. I will be Libertarian with Gary Johnson.

  10. What are the odds of Ron Paul running on a 3rd party ticket? He is the only person I will vote for.
