Rand Paul to Speak at Republican National Convention

Ron Paul isn't currently scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention, but according to Reuters,  Rand Paul will speak at the RNC.

Sounds like Rand's speech will be a Mitt Romney cheerleading session. Brian Doherty, who is somewhat familiar with Rand Paul camp thinking, writes:
As much as it annoys many of the Paul hardcore, it will be easier to help define the future of the Republican Party from a believable position of being Loyal Opposition rather than rebel outsider. So don't expect Rand Paul to attack Romney explicitly in Tampa.
This means that Rand will not be allowed to call for an end to the Fed, but most assuredly will be given the green light to call for the start of bombing of Iran, if he so chooses. Since Romney does not have a position in favor of liberty on anything, Rand's "loyal opposition" speech, will sure be a hoot. Will Sheldon Adelson have to give a thumbs up on the speech? Who said the RNC was going to be boring?

  1. Lots and lots of speculation here about a speech that hasn't even been offered yet. Rand Paul's opportunity, if it ever even arises, may be no more significant than the introduction of a more prominent speaker.

I think it's safe to say that if the opportunity arises, Rand Paul will not advocate the bombing of Iran. It's not out of the question that he would advocate eliminating the Fed although, of course, there are many other things he could promote, the most prominent being a balanced budget.

    1. A balanced budget doesn't mean a darn thing. It would be as useless as the debt ceiling. So the government spends 5 trillion next year, but it's okay because they taxed us 5 trillion. Sounds great!

  2. I think you may find that Romney gets bushwacked on this one. His tax affairs seem very dodgy indeed...

  4. Normally I'd ask if Rand has received his 30 pieces of silver yet...hopefully who ever delivers such should make sure he delivers the payoff in fiat currency priced @ today's silver spot.

  5. Rand needs to turn over his speaking slot to his father or refuse the invitation.

He is doing far more damage to advocacy groups such as C4L by continuing down this pathand C4L is doing the same by continuing to support positions that call for the killing of arabs, massice spending and unconstitional measures (as if that means anything).

  6. Maybe he will propose a new and more efficient withholding tax? perhaps he can save SS by increasing the payroll tax! or perhaps we can put more money into the more cost effective drone wars!

  7. Maybe we should let Rand have his speech, before we assume the content.

    1. The mere fact that Rand is being allowed to speak by the Romney campaign clearly establishes that he will say nothing that would oppose Willard's policies - nothing.

In the least it is one last shot to co-opt more liberty folks to the Romney cause.

  8. Expect political theater of the absurd. American has lost its freaking mind! It"s a real life episode from the Twilight Zone .

Picture this... Two candidates running for President of the United States. One tied to the criminal elite, hiding offshore bank accounts, no clue what to do next, and the other, coming off the worst Presidential term in history, also clueless about what to do next, waving a Hawaiian birth certificate signed by U.K. L. Lee (ukulele). "You are traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!"
