Russian Band "Pussy Riot" Found Guilty.

Developing...

Update 1: Outside the court, Russian dissident Gary Kasparov was taken into a police paddy wagon and apparently roughed up.

Update 2: From WSJ's live blog
The band members had their video and photo cameras switched on -- and that is forbidden in the cathedral, judge notes, citing a witness.

Judge notes that the women were wearing short dresses. "When they bowed (before the altar), their dresses rode up."

The judge is reading out detailed descriptions of how several believers -- the crime's victims -- said they were insulted by the womens' actions. "Their clothes didn’t conform to Church rules," the judge says, among many other complaints. "The normal functioning of the Church was violated."

The girls continue to break into smiles.

Judge just said the band members' clothes did not obey the Russian Orthodox church code (headscarfs, long skirts).

Does everyone in the court have to stand through this whole reading?  Could be a long time. As WSJ social media editor Neal Mann points out on Twitter:

The judge in the #Pussyriot trial appears to be pulling an 'Ecuador' and really dragging this out. @fieldproducer

Some witnesses weren't in the cathedral at the time but just saw the Internet clip and told the court how they felt offended while watching.

The Pussy Riot members are standing and occasionally breaking into smiles as the judge reads out the witnesses' testimony against them. The sentencing will follow.

  1. I've been in that cathedral.

I was wearing shorts. It was July and (not normally associated with Russia) hot.

My girlfriend (now wife) was wearing a tank top and jeans.

I have photos from inside the church (another apparent violation) and can prove it!

Everything related to this story is BS.
