Rand Paul Perpetuates a Major Lie

By, Chris Rossini

The Blaze asks the following question:
"Without Ron Paul, who will this insurgent movement turn to as their next standard bearer?"
Now, right off the bat, this is trick question.

Ron Paul is only leaving the scummy world of politics. He's not dropping off the face of the Earth. We also live in a connected digital world. He can end up becoming an even bigger figure and force for liberty...who knows?

So as far as I'm concerned, Ron Paul remains the standard bearer of the liberty movement.

But according to The Blaze, I'm missing the obvious:
The obvious answer is Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, if only because he is the son of the original founder of the movement himself.
Which is then followed by one of the biggest lies that hold a grip on many Americans:
“We’re all Republicans because we think the Republican party is the party of limited government, the party of obeying the Constitution,” Rand Paul told theBlaze.
Can Rand possibly believe this?

Let's just do a basic visual test. When you look at the following charts of government spending and the government debt, do you see a push-and-pull going on here?

Does it look like a battle between big-government Democrats vs. limited government Republicans?

That's not what I see.

Even the history of Republican Party displays that Rand is way off here:

Was Lincoln thinking about limited government and obeying the constitution when he invaded the South, becoming a virtual dictator, and bringing about the death of 600,000 Americans?

How about "Teddy Bear" Roosevelt? This power-hungry individual flat out stated “To hell with the Constitution when the people want coal.”

Military-Industrial Complex Eisenhower?

Close-the-gold-window Nixon?

Warmonger Reagan?

The BUSHES??!!

In other words, the Republican Party has never been about limited government & obeying the constitution. From the very beginning, they've been about war, corporate welfare, bailouts, subsidies, and crony capitalism; all to be paid for by a nationalized bank that controls the money supply.

Support for free markets and obeying the constitution are just rhetoric that Republicans use to gain votes. That's it!

The liberty movement needs to stick with Ron Paul as standard bearer. Word is, he has some fantastic things planned for after leaving office.

I have a hard time understanding what Rand is trying to do. But he's now on a very slippery slope, and his words are reflecting it more than ever.

  1. Mr. Romney is running for President of the United States.
This is a position of Trust.
Ronald Reagan said, "Trust but Verify."
Mr. Romney has said, "Trust me," re his tax returns.
It is not unreasonable for voters to want to "Verify.

What is the single issue on which Mr. Romney has never flip-flopped? He stands doggedly firm on never, under any circumstances, releasing his tax returns.

    Why?

It is not just liberals who want to see Romney's tax returns.
It is 63% of American voters who do.

The longer Mr. Romney delays, the more suspicious it appears.

Obama released 8 years of tax returns
    GW Bush 10 years
    Clinton 12 years
    GHW Bush 14 years
    George Romney 12 years.

    What is there to hide?

  2. This is Political mentality, the misconception that nobody has a life outside politics and that politics orders your life. Sit it out, walk away, all incomprehensible. Like Romney turned down a 30 million dollar salary, the idea that rand could go back to being an eye doctor is inconceivable to him .

Who cares about tax returns. That phoney issue misses the point entirely. All the politicians listed by you as having released their tax returns were lying, duplicitous big government shysters. I doubt the people who read this blog care at all about that issue and they should'nt. Partisan drone talking points don't work here so maybe you should peddle that nonsense over at HuffPo or The Daily Beast.

  5. Excellent blog Chris. As for Rand, wake up buddy, do some power elite analysis. But you probably already have, and like Anakin Skywalker, have turned to the dark side. If so, I say to you, Satan get behind me.

  6. Rand Paul is talking about the old Republican party of Robert Taft and/or Barry Goldwater and Reagan - I've heard Ron Paul use the exact same talking point. It's more of a statement saying what the Republican Party SHOULD BE rather than a defense of the status qup. Rand Paul has also blasted the Bush Administration and Republicans numerous times for "acting like Democrats."

Your facts are correct, but you're creating a straw man argument. Rand has never tried to justify the spending under Republican administrations that happened BEFORE he was involved in politics.

  7. It's getting harder and harder for me to tolerate this web site. The heavy-handed propaganda here is very hard to take. Indpendent does not seem to get much of a hearing.

Even if Rand Paul is wrong about the Republican Party, that doesn't make him a liar. But Rand is the first to admit that the Republican performance doesn't match its rhetoric. Still, the grass roots IS anti-government, and if your going to run on an anti-government platform you won't have much chance in a Democrat primary.

And Lincoln didn't cause the deaths of 600,000 Americans as virtually every Lincoln scholar would agree in spite of the efforts of Tom DiLorenzo. Nor are all those other statements of opinion unarguable statements of fact. The dogmatism of this site is making it far less informative and far less worth coming to than it was even a short time ago. The title advertises it as an economics site, about which there may be some expertise. But in politics, history, or philosophy; that expertise is sorely lacking.

My advice to Mr. Wenzel, "Stick to what you know."

    1. Maybe you should try a different browser. One that doesn't come to this website.

  8. Rand Paul's budget balances the budget in three years. It slashes military spending and many unneeded unconstitutional departments. Neocon blogs like this one won't mention that, of course.

Neocon blogs like this one? Although I think Wenzel gets a little to picky sometimes, I am pretty sure he complains about Rand because RAND ACTS LIKE A NEOCON too much. This is the furthest thing from a neocon blog you can find...You might want to re-read the post or read a few of the other posts.
