Geithner Met With Top Hedge Fund Managers

Last Thursday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner met with top hedge fund managers and other money managers "to discuss the state of the economy".

Do you think you could improve your investment performance a bit if you had occasional chats with the Treasury Secretary?

EPJ has obtained a list of those who sat down to chat with Geithner:

Glenn Hutchins, Silver Lake
Don Marron, Lightyear Capital
Tom Steyer, Farallon Capital Management
Alan Howard, Brevan Howard
John Paulson, Paulson & Co., Inc
Bill McNabb, The Vanguard Group

  1. No, I don't think I could improve my investment performance with the occasional chat with Geithner. Geithner's the one that thinks the US's AAA rating is rock solid.

  2. Inside info given for campaign contributions.

Quid pro quo. It's a rigged game.

  3. The one to watch is John Paulson who famously took a page out of the Austrian's book and shorted the housing boom and made a mint. Recently he has taken another page out of the Austrian investment manual and piled up a nice stack of gold. http://www.forbes.com/sites/ycharts/2012/08/17/lets-not-call-john-paulson-a-gold-bug-hes-a-hedge-fund-chief-who-invests-like-a-gold-bug/
