Business as Usual: Politician Breaks No Tax Pledge

NyPo reports:

A top Republican senator is casting aside an anti-tax pledge he signed, saying that solving the country’s looming fiscal crisis is more important than honoring the decades-old pact.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., broke ranks with other conservatives Wednesday when he made the remarks to a local television station. Chambliss is a member of the Gang of Six, a bipartisan group of senators tasked with finding a solution to the country's fiscal woes.
"I care more about my country than I do about a 20-year-old pledge," he told WMAZ-TV. "If we do it his way then we’ll continue in debt, and I just have a disagreement with him about that."
You will see more of this. They are using the "fiscal cliff" as cover to raise taxes. How about some serious spending cuts, instead?

  1. Of course we will see more since we are dealing with unprincipled people that desire to stay in power more than to act on their principles. Not only will they fold on taxes, they will also fold on spending cuts too. I already have my list of spending cuts ready as I intend on passing on every dollar of increased taxes to others.

  2. EPJ needs to break down this POS voting record.
I would be real interested to see how much love he had for this country when voting for the budget especially in the Bush years.

  3. But, hey, at least we voted for the lesser of two evils so the Republican's complacent decision making is not as bad as the real evil Democrats.

  4. Saxby votes for just about every budget increase and new government program. He also is a reliable vote for war, for the Patriot Act, and the NDAA.

    He is a fascist.

    1. It amazes me how few people can define fascist. When you describe it to them (corporate control of government and vice versa) they can rarely see that the good old USofA meets the definition to a T.

Under God my ass. Hitler and Stalin would be proud.

  5. The title of this entry should read "Business as Usual: Sociopath Breaks No Tax Pledge". I mean, is there really any difference between a politician and a sociopath?

    1. Yes. The non-politician sociopaths don't make you call them "The Honorable."
